Unlike modern plastic 'baskets', this set exudes so much charm! It is also sturdy and very usable. The only difficulty is fitting in a wine bottle in the carrier along with food. It's a bit awkward to close, but do-able if you're careful. Entire set appears very sturdy. I have only used it once so far, but was very pleased. Utensils are stronger and more usable than I imagined. Included plastic containers are just average, and I ended up using my own which fit better around the wine bottle, but everything else in the set is exquisite, sturdy, and charming.

I bought this as a wedding gift for my very dear friend who already has everything. I plan to pack it with food and wine to take with them on their honeymoon. The quality is top notch. Most picnic baskets have plastic ware. This is porcelain with genuine flatware. The basket is huge and will have no problem holding fruit, bread, chocolate and muffins. The extras (bottle cooler, food cooler and blanket) are also of top quality. The basket is well built with strong leather straps that holds all of the parts securely in place. If you want a nice gift, go this set.

Reduced from how much?Firstly, items that make up the set are not what is pictured, napkins are different, glasses have major quality flaws, cheap glass, and some sort of film that you can feel with a finger nail, that is resistant to everything known to man kind. Well known to my wife anyway.I am ashamed to give this as a gift, even to my mother In law.Way too much money for cheap basket, would be better off buying a basket and sourcing the parts.I am speaking to the company direct, for advice, and then will return it. I will post the reply from Picnic -time.My fist ever review to Amazon as I feel so strongly regarding this product.

The Girlfriend loved opening up this gift. The basket itself is made of really good quality, as are all of the components. Honestly, when I saw the price of the thing I thought it was a ripoff, but my girl wanted something like this so I picked it up. I am glad I did, as the items are all durable, and of good quality. The basket is large enough to have a nice sized picnic, and it comes with everything you need for the picnic except the wine and food. It is worth the money.

... but unfortunately it is just so-so.The basket arrived in good shape and looks sturdy, everything inside was well packed and unbroken.I compared several picnic baskets and I like that the handle of the basket is on the top and not at the side, so you can carry everything you put in upright, and don't have to flip the content. I also like the little leather straps that hold everything in place. I also like that the basket has leather straps on the outside for the blanket.Positiv is that the basket has (almost) everything that you need to go on a picnic for two. It includes (real) wine glasses, stainless steel forks, knives, and spoons (- I like that they are one piece and not with plastic/wood handles), a cheese knife with wooden handle (- it is so-so), a 6 x 6 wooden cutting board, a cooler/heater bag for food, one for a bottle, salt and pepper shakers, napkins, and just to list everything: a cork screw, 2 plastic containers, 2 plates, and a picnic blanket.To the items I put at the end of my list are not very convincing regarding their quality:The quality of the cork screw is questionable, I probably will replace it with a better one. The blanket is thin, without an water-resistant backing, and made of a cheap material.The plastic containers are also quite cheap and don't look like they would hold up for a long time.The glaze of the plates is rough and flawed with little bumps. Since other reviewers also mentioned flaws in the glaze I am wondering about quality control.Compared with the price for what the basket is sold ($200.00+) I took away one star for the quality of the cork screw, the blanket and the plastic containers, and for the flawed plates another star. I replaced them with 2 Fiesta 7-1/4-Inch Salad Plates in lemongrass. They are a little bit smaller but they work. It is sad, because it could be a really great picnic set.
