This is a major wear and tear type of product, so it depends on the way it's used. We cannot guarantee the use it's being given and be liable for it. It gets dropped, scratched, scraped, as well as using with with an extreme heat that goes over the limitations of the tool. If that is the case it will have problems. The amount of use given will also wear out the seals inside the valve, that is a regularly replaceable kit, that cannot be guaranteed.

Will this work with the rug Dr machine

I have an older rug doctor. I had to create a little adapter to utilize this tool. But works great.

Is there an adapter to connect the hose fitting to a garden hose?

The sprayer is meant for steam, not liquid water. If you put a garden hose there, you'll get a steady steam of water, making a mess.
