These are not the super thin profile cases I have mistakenly purchased in the past. I would say they are very similar to the case you would expect in a store bought cd. Very pleased.

Q: is this jewel case for ps1 or deamcast games?

yes but be aware that these are missing the "Compact Disc" logo that should be present on the top right and bottom left of the disc tray

Q: does anyone have the weight of a single shell W/O the tray in ounces?

In answer to the question as stated, the weight of the shell alone, exclusive of tray, is 1.43 ounces (40.5 grams). Of more interest to most of us is the weight of entire case, including tray, which is 2.09 ounces (59.25 grams).

Q: Can you press the hub slightly to release the disk easier, or do you have to bend to disk to take it out of the case?

You can press the hub to make the disc come off easier
