I'm running an older dell i7 3770. 77 watt. this fan is the same size as my cpu fan. i have an adapter to go from the mb to a pwm fan. will this work?

Most Dell systems use a proprietary 5-pin fan header. In order to make it work you'll either have to modify this header or buy a special adapter to make it work with Dell motherboards

Does it come with Molex adapter / Can I connect it to the power supply instead of to the mother board ?

You can connect it directly to the power supply. It doesn't come with a MOLEX adapter and I'd just pick up a generic one here on Amazon instead of opting for a dedicated 3 or 2 pin fan. Here's why: Today you may want to run it directly off the Power Supply, but down the road you may want to connect it to a 4-pin fan header and then you'll have to buy another fan if you opt for a dedicated 3 pin or 2 pin fan now
