Heartache. Betrayal. Forgiveness. Redemption... It's time to head back to Magdalena, New York, and spend a little time with the people we love to love and even a few we love to hate. Only one thing is missing from Tess and Daniel โCashโ Casherdonโs perfect lifeโa child. Oh, how they long for one to make their life complete. But what is it people say about being careful what you wish forโฆ? Their wish will come true, but not in the way they think. Daniel Casherdonโs past is about to catch up with him. Itโs bad enough when a woman arrives in Magdalena with a nine-year-old boy she claims is his, but confessing to a terminal illness and asking Tess and Cash to raise the boy when sheโs gone? Well, thatโs going to require a big leap of faith that wonโt be easy or without repercussions. How can anyone refuse a dying mother such a heartbreaking request? Tess is torn between doing right by the child and acknowledging that another woman has given the man she loves something she may never be able toโa child. As the woman pulls Cash closer into her emotional circle, it is Tess who becomes the outsider, and soon she wonders if the woman has secrets sheโs not telling. More than one resident is suspicious of anyone who drives a wedge between one of Magdalenaโs favorite couples. The newcomer may look and act like the girl next door, but something isnโt right, and Pop Benito is going to gather ammunition and find out what that something is. But heโd better do it fast, before itโs too late. And Cash isnโt the only one whoโs gotten a visitor from his past. Pop Benito encounters his nemesis and is forced to face some hard truths about himself and the choices he made years ago. Itโs going to be one very interesting summer in Magdalena! Youโre not going to want to miss it!! This time it is Cash warned by his wife and drawn in by a long ago woman he had "dated" for only a few weeks. He is also warned by his friends, but a son story and a potential son seem to blind Cash. Pop learns a lot more about his relationship with his wife from a woman he had hoped to never see again. But he leans much from her...And I suspect she has come away with a few lessons from Pop. Ramona surprises us all and Phyllis (from Lina's cafe) has an unlikely suitor. Weddings and babies abound in the coming months as they head for fall in Magdalena. And it is sure to be a festive and crazy time of year Rating: 4.8 โดโดโดโดโด Review: Awesome read! - Such an awesome series. The Gift, the 10th book in the A Family Affair series met my expectations. Cash and Tess's journey was heartwarming, tear jerking, exciting, frustrating and a happy ending. Definitely would recommend this book and the series. Can't wait for #11.

I do believe each book is better than the last
Mary Campisi has again taken us to Magdalena and has enlightened us with the lives of the residents while incorporating some new faces . . . she never fails to capture each personality and portray them in depth. . she makes you feel a multitude of emotions as you read each and every word. I do believe each book is better than the last. I am looking forward to the next installment, Mary!

Magdalena is my favorite place to be
Another book you just hate to put down. Poor Tess and Cash, at least love seen them through the good and the bad. How can someone be so evil to not want their own child, as I'm sure Mason is so much better off without a Mother that thinks of only herself. But so happy for Tess and Cash and can hardly wait to see whats coming in Magdalena next. I think Tula and Pop would be good for each other. Just a thought.. I enjoy reading a Family Affair so much I hated for the book to end. Thanks so much Mary for the good reading.

Okay too short for the price
I liked the book I have read the series so far. I was disappointed that. It was only a two hour read I felt that for the price it should of been a full book.

The Gift
Really enjoyed this book. It focuses on a third party by the name of Stephanie who appears in Magdalena with her boy Mason in tow causing havoc for Daniel and Tess. Like they haven't had enough heartache to contend with as it is. The new guests set tongues wagging particularly with Mason looking like the splitting image of Daniel. In addition to that Pop has an unwanted visitor from the past. Together however they put their differences aside to focus on getting to the truth and saving Daniel and Tess's marriage. Loved the surprise at the end. Another great book from Mary. Can't wait for the next book.
