    Excellent default French-English dictionary for Kindle

It works great on my Google Pixel 4a as a default dictionary. There is another Collins French dictionary for Kindle for $8.99 but it cannot be used as a default dictionary (only as as secondary dictionary,  then reverts back to the default one on the the next lookup). This one is more money ($19.99) but worth it. It also works for my PC but not as a default dictionary (Amazon provides only a French-French dictionary as a default for the PC). However, I can lookup words very fast on the PC. On the PC, however, you can only look up headwords, not verb forms, etc. Still, I am very satisfied.

The publisher BLATANTLY misrepresents this product. The preface guides you through how to set this as your default French dictionary. You’ll find that this doesn’t work. Why not? After spending 20 minutes with Amazon Customer Chat, it turns out that this book IS NOT FORMATTED TO ACT AS A NATIVE FRENCH DICTIONARY, despite the screen shots and paragraphs in the book indicating otherwise. I speak/read three languages and have worked with a couple dozen native Kindle dictionaries over the past 10 years, and this is the first time I have seen this happen. Save yourself the $20 and stick with the Hatchette.

英語が中途半端に理解できる日本人にとって非常に有用な辞書ですフランス語でわからない言葉はたいてい載ってますし、知っている英語についてフランス語での表現についても英仏辞書機能から確認することができます”別に普通に仏和辞典・和仏辞典でいいのでは？”と思われる方もいるかもしれませんが、フランス語と類似の文化圏・言語構造に含まれる英語で定義を確認した方がニュアンス等が正確にとれると思ったのと単に英語の学習も兼ねたかったため購入しましたコンパクトサイズなので中級者・上級者になってくると載っていない言葉もちらほら出てくるのかもしれませんがフランス語初学者としては今のところ完全に問題なく使用できています※subtleのようなレアな？英語についても取り扱われていたので網羅性は思った以上に高いのかもしれません英語ネイティブ向けの辞書のためなのか説明自体はあまり詳しくありません（というよりかなり簡素でそっけない感じ）またCollins辞書の売りと思われるフルセンテンスの独特の定義もこの辞書が英語話者向けのフランス語辞書のためなのか特に見られないのでオックスフォード英英辞典とかロングマン英英辞典のような普通の説明になっているように感じます※Grammarの説明部分もありますが私の英語力では理解に時間がかかりそうですし仏英辞書がほしかっただけなので個人的にはあってもなくてもいいかなと思っています※辞書の説明のなかでたまにみられる星マークの意味やよくわからない略語についての説明が辞書の最初の部分で探しても見当たらないので、略記や記号の意味の説明は辞書としての説明責任の範囲内だと思うので星を1つ減らしました（私が見つけられていないだけでどこかで説明されているのかもしれませんが・・）
