Without a doubt, the sharpest knife I have ever bought without me having to hone it. Crazy sharp straight from the box! Nice weight to it too, full tang and lovely finish to the blade and handle. Imagine a brand new stanley knife blade, how easily it cuts. That is what these knives are like, but much better looking and bigger.Have just ordered a 7" Santoku and a 4" paring knife to go with the 5" Santoku and the 5" Utility I bought the other day. And also a magnetic wall mounted knife rack, as I really do not want to be putting my hands in the drawer with these things loose! They do come with a small guard for the tip of the blade, but most of the cutting edge remains exposed, running the risk of quite nasty accidents if loose in the drawer. I strongly recommend also getting some sort of knife block/magnetic knife holder to keep all your fingers intact!The texture on the blade is not genuinely "hammered", but sort of a stamp into the metal. However, this does not detract from the beauty of them, or the functionality. Even cutting tomatoes into paper thin slices, very little effort is required and the food does not get stuck to the blade, being a nuisance. I am very impressed with them!As a side note, I would recommend the 5" Santoku for people with smaller hands, like my wife and son. I find it a tad small for my hands, and the blade length not worth it if you have the 5" utility also. Both my wife and son love it though as they find it easier to manage than the "intimidating" big knives, yet easier to slice soft fruit and veg than the utility knife. The 7" is a decent enough size to replace an 8" cooks knife for most uses and will likely be my go-to knife.

It feels much heavier than your usual budget knife, but for someone with small hands like me I didn’t find it TOO heavy. It is comfortable to hold and chops well. I went back and ordered more of the set to try cooking different dishes, so far everything has worked as I’d expect a new knife to, but also they feel nice when using them.I think they look better in person than on screen, I wasn’t so sure about the hammered effect but bought this because they were wood, the brand is recommended on external sites, and the amazon reviews for the price point. After seeing them in person I think they are really stylish.All in all for something I use at least once a day, it’s worth the marginally extra cost to have something that I like the look of and works well.

As a chef, I know a thi g or two about kitchen knives and this ones a great one!I got this as a gift for a family member, old bread knife was rubbish. This is a fantastic knife, comfortable to hold, has a good weight and balance, cuts very nicely and has a very nice wooden handle and textured blade making it loon good too!In fact, it's so effective that it's replaced not only our old bread knife, but our carving knife too.Great product, very fair price, highly recommended!

This is a nice little 'special' steak knife. I own some hammered steel japanese chef's knives... the hammering on this is clearly stamped on, so dont expect an ultra luxury product, but its reasonable and not glaringly bad. The wooden handle is good, dense grained, pressure treated wood. Its a little bulbous actually - 4 or more of these possibly arent going to fit easily in your cutlery drawer. However, if you're a knives enthusiast, this is a nice knife at I think 10 or 12 quid i paid for it. The through tang is of course essential, and the gauge of steel is very thick, making for an extremely sturdy and accurate yet quite a long steak knife. I have this as 'daddy's knife' but I dont think I could manage half a dozen of these in the drawer! Excellent value to get this quality. The balance is not the best, and its a little heavy, but its growing on me for sure. The serration and cutting edge is excellent and seems durable, albeit all serrated knives seem so dont they.

I'm really happy with this knife, easy to hold, easy to sharpen and it holds the sharp edge for a long time. I've since bought other knives in this range.

Bought as part of a birthday gift to my partner, he was delighted with the quality of it. I thought the hammered texture looked kind of cheap in the photos, but it looks a lot nicer in person. The length and weight of this knife is perfectly practical and comfortable for extended use and the blade is incredibly sharp, he actually needs to be careful when chopping not to cut chunks out of the new wooden chopping board.He's been using it daily for over a month and there's hardly any wear at all - still glides through pumpkins like butter, so it seems very durable.

Received today and tested on a nice 800g rib eye steak on a bone. Perfect. Very comfortable in hand, cuts well, goes around the bone on a thick steak, does not tear but rather slice the meat, angled slicing is possible. I don't think the wooden handle is designed for dishwasher, and you may want to wipe it with Danish oil occasionally. Serration on the blade is asymmetrical, so do not use this knife for precision slicing of cold meats - choose a non-serrated blade for it.It feels a quality product, suitable for man's hands. Attention to detail is pleasing. Happy.

A small disclaimer, I am not in any sense of the word a chef. I basically eat chicken, rice potatoes and veg and that's it. So if you're an enthusiast chef, take my review with a pinch of salt!I have been usinng pretty old, rather cheap knives up until this point and, I'm not exactly going to be on masterchef any time soon, so an expensive damascus knife was out of the question. This knife looked cool and wasn't that expensive, so I thought I'd give it a try.I'm very impressed so far, it's made cutitng onions, potatoes and chicken much easier than my old knives. It has quite a bit of weight to it too, (relative to my cheap plastic handle knives). It is definitely very sharp though, easily slice through veg with very little effort.All in all I am very happy with this knife and will buy more in the future if I ever feel like I need more than one knife.

Ich habe mir das Messer aufgrund der Dellen und der damit beworbenen Antihafteigenschaften gekauft. Es ist schon nervig, wenn das Schnittgut immer an dem Messer kleben bleibt. Leider funktioniert das mit den Antihaftung nicht so gut wie erhofft. Tomatenscheiben z.B. bleiben hier auch an der Schneide kleben. Außerdem liegt mir das Messer nicht gut in der Hand. Das kann aber an mir liegen. Ich bin bin 1,90m groß und habe auch nicht die kleinsten Hände. Das Messer aber hat einen eher kleinen Griff.Das Messer ist auch verglichen mit meinem alten Kochmesser leichter – das kann ich jetzt aber weder positiv noch negativ bewerten.Fazit:Das Messer ist scharf und gut. Leider ist der Griff für mich zu klein und die Antihafteigenschaften der Dellen ist vernachlässigbar. Wer aber einfach nur ein gutes Kochmesser sucht und kleine Griffe bevorzugt wird hier fündig.### Wissenswertes über Messer ###Wenn ich mir die Fragen und Beurteilungen hier auf Amazon durchlese, merke ich immer wieder, dass viele Käufer sich mit der Materie Messer nicht auskennen. Ich bin zwar kein Fachmann, aber ich habe so meine Erfahrungen damit und habe mir auch das ein oder andere angelesen:++ Rostfrei ++Gute und damit teure Messer sind niemals so richtig rostfrei. Auch wenn die so beworben werden. Das liegt an der Zusammensetzung des Stahls. Teure Messer sind steifer und haben u.a. einen höheren Kohlenstoffanteil.++ Pflege ++Messer aus speziellem Messerstahl sind nicht rostfrei und gehören nicht in der Spülmaschine! Auch sollte man die Messer gleich nach Gebrauch reinigen. Sonst könnten die guten, teuren Messer Rost ansetzten.++ Wetzen mit einem Wetzstab aus Stahl ++Der Wetzstab wird dazu verwendet die Klinge immer wieder aufzurichten, da beim Gebrauch die Klingespitze „umklappen“ kann und damit stumpfer wird (ist mit dem Auge nicht zu sehen). Das ist der sogenannte Grat. D.h. um die Schärfe der Messer zu erhalten, müssen die Messer regelmäßig gewetzt werden. Wenn man einen Wetzstab aus Stahl verwendet, sollte dieser härter sein als das zu wetzende Messer. Hier muss also der Wetzstab zum Messer passen!++ Wetzen mit einem Wetzstab aus Keramik ++Anders als bei den Wetzstäben aus Stahl kann man nahezu alle Stahlmesser mit dem Keramikwetzstab wetzen. Positiver Nebeneffekt ist auch, dass die Klinge durch die Keramik fein poliert wird und die Messer dadurch auch schärfer werden können. Deshalb bevorzuge ich den Keramikwetzstab.++ Wetzen mit einem Diamant-Wetzstab ++Verglichen mit dem Keramikwetzstab trägt der Diamant-Wetzstab mehr Material ab und „poliert“ weniger.++ Schärfen bzw. Schleifen ++Jedes Messer wird mit der Zeit stumpf und das Wetzen kann das Schleifen nicht ersetzen! Ich schleife meine Messer so alle 1 bis 1,5 Jahre. Generell gilt, umso härter ein Messer ist, umso schwieriger wird es es zu schärfen. Das ist der Grund weshalb gute, teure Messer nicht mit irgendwelchen Billigtools geschliffen werden können bzw. sollten. Ich empfehle ein elektrisches Schleifgerät. (Es kann sein, dass nach dem Schleifen das Messer einen Grat hat und auch gleich wieder gewetzt werden sollte. Bei den kleinen Bandschleifmaschinen von WorkSharp ist das auf jeden Fall so.)++ Europäischer Schliff(beidseitig) ++Beim europäischer Schliff handelt es sich um einen beidseitigen Schliff. Bei Küchenmessern sind es meistens 2x 15°. Die Klinge ist damit breiter als beim japanischen Schliff und somit robuster.++ Japanischer Schliff(einseitig) ++Beim japanischer Schliff bleibt die Rückseite gerade (quasi ohne Schliff) und nur die Vorderseite wird geschliffen. Das Ergebnis ist ein sehr scharfes, aber nicht so robustes Messer++ Keramikmesser ++Keramikmesser waren eine Zeit lang sehr in Mode. Man sieht und hört aber nur noch wenig davon. Ein Grund dafür könnte sein, dass die Keramikmesser extrem steif und somit auch extrem schlecht zu wetzen und zu schärfen sind. Das geht nur mit speziellen Diamant-Werkzeugen.++ Meine Empfehlung ++Ich habe mir vor 15 Jahren ein Messerblock mit Edelstahlmessern (9 teilig) für 50€ im Möbelhaus gekauft und bin immer noch mit dem Kauf sehr zufrieden. D.h. Ich würde euch empfehlen „billige“ Messer zu kaufen und etwas mehr Geld in den Wetzstab und eine Schleifmaschine zu investieren. Das ist auch nachhaltiger, als immer wieder neue Messer zu kaufen. Die „billigen“ und damit weicheren Messer sind einfacher instand zu halten und sind auch für die meisten Hobbyköche mehr als ausreichend.
