Worked great - until it didn't
Used one to make my 25 watt incandescent porch light come on after sundown. Wanted to have it kind of fade on & off during the off-to-on transition and vice versa. Worked perfectly in a down-facing position (with the "hood" removed) for many months, but then stopped turning off during day hours. I guess the sensor circuit failed. So, I bought two more to replace it - one extra as backup in case this first failure wasn't just a fluke.Don't know if they (Xodus Innovations) will honor their 1-year limited warranty - will contact them to see.

Short life span
Bought four and 5 weeks in one has already quit working. 30 day return policy via amazon means I lost my money. Don't buy, junk.****Update March 10, 2016*****After reading my review a person from Xodus Innovations reached out to me and offered a replacement. He cited a quality control issue with a limited number of these produced. It took a couple of weeks, but they did send me a new one. Because of their good customer service and since the other 3 I bought originally are still working I am upgrading from a 2 star to a 4 star review.

Weatherproof Flood Light Adpater That Works With LED Flood Light
It is hard to find a weatherproof dusk to dawn floodlight sensor. I purchased two Woods Outdoor Floodlight Control Socket with Light Sensor Photocell, but found out that they were for dry use only. This Dusk to Dawn Flood Light Control Adapter replaced some older UFO looking ones, one of which went bad. This adapter is sleeker looking and easy to install. The description says incandescent bulbs only but I can tell you if you remove the rubber gasket which is specifically needed if the adapter is in the upright position, it works with these LED flood lights sold by Amazon:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08NW185ZC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I like how this adapter has a light sensor control ring so you can adjust the sensitivity of the sensor. This came in handy for me for two reasons. First, it allowed me to test the operation of the sensor and the bulb with the control ring fully closed and blocking the sensor. Second, the first night I went out to check the lights one of them was flickering. By slightly adjusting the light sensor control ring I was able to stop the LED bulb from flickering. The second night that theses adapters were outside we had a severe thunderstorm and the lights stayed off despite really dark skies and then came on later that night as expected. This Dusk to Dawn Flood Light Control Adapter is weatherproof, works with LED bulbs, and has a handy adjustable light sensor ring which controls light sensitivity. Overall, a solid and well built product.

Flickers at dawn and dusk
This control has a design fault that will surely shorten the life of any bulb it controls. The engineer did not provide enough hysteresis for clean switching and it oscillates for 15 minutes at dawn and dusk.Update 8 Oct. 2013I tried a few things to get this POS to switch cleanly. I built a light shield to keep the bulb light away from the sensor and used flat black paint to prevent reflections back to the sensor. What a PITA ... forget it and be smart; buy a timer that can be set for sunrise and sunset and live happily ever after.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003AIKQZ8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

HA250D Floodlight Control
To start with -- I used the old floodlight-bulb that I had in the outdoor fixture, originally. It was a "CFL floodlight".First off, it didn't work at all. I had to remove a 1/4" piece of rubber grommet at the top of the unit, just to get the light bulb to "seat" in it, properly. After that, I got a connection, and it worked. However - the adjustable "light-control" was very touchy ... and caused the bulb to flicker like a strobe light.I was able to adjust it so that the flickering stopped ... but then in the morning, the bulb wouldn't turn off. I adjusted that - and then in the evening it wouldn't turn on, so I had to adjust it again. To my shock ... shortly after that (two days time), the floodlight burned out (from the flickering) and I had to replace it.I didn't want to go through the process again - so I removed the HS250D control-unit, and put the old-bulb back in the regular fixture-socket.Then, on a whim (after reading more of the comments here) - I put in a full-blown floodlight (not a CFL) - and it worked !!It came on at dusk (no flickering) - and shut off at early daylight - just like it's supposed to do. Since then (a week or more, later) it's worked flawlessly - and I'm very happy with it !!!So the bottom-line is ...... you must use a full-blown floodlight, to get good results. CFL-floodlights will not work !!

Not really satisfied
The one I got does not look anything at all like the picture shown here. It does not have a rubber seal on the top, which looks like the pictured one does have? The add claims it can used in an exterior application. I think that is a little misleading. At least the one I got is gray in color and the printed warning which is also in gray and barely readable says, "for use in dry or damp locations". Most exterior locations that I know of will see at least some direct rain unless maybe up under a soffit. Having said that, The unit does appear to have the UL seal and does have a dawn to dusk sensor - and does work. I won't be using it for my application however. I am displeased that it not the unit represented in the add.
