These Bulgarian Bags are perfect for use in functional class training or in Group X or a PT studio, the added colors take away the fear factor from working with such high-performance equipment and make it more welcoming for casual users. The synthetic leather construction means it is easy to keep clean and makes it ideal for high frequency use. Review: Great cardio/grip/wrestling tool - Over the years, I've always had a "home workout" game. Started out with free squats, bridges and push ups; later progressed to burpee ladders. Handstand push ups are also old friends. There's the obvious chin up bar. Then I got into kettlebells; a tool I still love and use regularly. Chest expanders and rubber bands are also helpful tools for working odd muscles, shoulders, upper back, stretching and particularly arm hypertrophy. At least the way my physique is constructed, curls are much better with rubber bands (aka the peak contraction is at the top; something it is difficult to get with weights, even with a preacher bench). I've thrown some indian clubs in for shoulder health. I bought the bulgarian bag to add some rotational strength and awkward shapes to the mix. Sandbags are generally good for grip and wrestling type moves. This one works in ways I'd never think of on my own. It hits the grip pretty hard, as you'd expect, turning into grip endurance. This would have been a great tool for brazilian jiu jitsu, both for extra grip endurance work, and the rotational strength you need for throws. The main exercise is the spin and variations on it. The snatch is also pretty intense; surprising as I can easily 1-hand snatch 88lb kettlebells for sets of 10 or more. I guess it is the odd shape and size which does this. As with other tools, I tend to go for something a bit bigger than "beginner" size; even if I am a beginner with the new tool, I am no beginner. This one, I picked right. 37lbs will remain a challenge for a while, but after a week or two it was easy to do sets of 20 spins with it. It's turning into a sort of finisher HIIT training session as is demonstrated in most of the videos. I suspect adding a few sets, or rotating in more of the challenging exercises, this size bag will always be productive used HIIT style. The bag is well constructed and despite abuse, it hasn't sprung a leak yet. They're expensive, but I suspect it will last me many many years of hard use. Great cardio/grip/wrestling tool

Super produit
Il répond à mes attentes en tous points. J'attends de voir sa qualité de fabrication avec, notamment, "sa durée de vie": s'il me fait un an ou dix ans...

A brilliant calorie burning tool for men and women
Excellent price for this from Amazon (bought at £115.87). The bag I received is actually a slightly newer version from the one shown in the picture; whilst the colour way is as shown, the handles are the newer more ergonomic shape as per this version: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-Suples-Bulgarian-Weighted-Bag-Black/dp/B01ELJ8YCQ/ref=dp_ob_title_sports?th=1&psc=1. I have owned a canvas (17kg) Bulgarian Bag for several years and this has proven to very durable. It's been spun, dropped, thrown (albeit onto grass or a matted surface, never on concrete) countless times; yes, it does look used but it is still in good condition and is perfectly usable. This vinyl version appears every bit as well made and I expect it to last a long time. Whilst the vinyl material keeps the cost down and will no doubt be durable, it does have a flaw here; the effect it has on your grip. The vinyl is smooth and shiny so has an inherently lower coefficient of friction than other (more textured) materials such as canvas. This effect is compounded by even a small amount of sweat on your hands; the vinyl is also non-absorbent so the sweat just stays between your hands and the material and acts like a lubricant, compromising your grip and causing your hands to slip. With the 17kg canvas bag I can easily get through 20-25 reps of the spin move without having to re-seat my grip. With the 12kg vinyl bag my grip was compromised after only about 10-12 reps. You might want to consider applying grip tape to the handles or having chalk/gloves on your hands to prevent your hands slipping. This is an outstanding training tool. It teaches your whole body how to generate power, stability and control. It works you hard aerobically and anaerobically. It develops your proprioception. Compared to other types of gym equipment, the learning curve is relatively steep; with movements like the 'Suples spin', for example, your proprioceptive sense and grip strength/endurance are tested rigorously. However, don't let that put you off; stick with it and your proprioception and grip will improve quickly. Unlike most gym equipment, this tool allows you to train (hard!) in all three planes of movement. The 'Suples spin' move in particular works you very hard in the transverse and lateral planes. The thing about this kind of functional training tool is that there is no 'hiding place'; you cannot just go through the motions. Quite simply, if the bag is not moving apace under control, then you are not working. If you are a golfer, this is a training tool you really ought to try if you want to improve the physical tools you bring to your game. Golf is hugely dependent on proprioception and also relies heavily on flexibility, control and power in the transverse and lateral planes. The Bulgarian Bag can work all of this extensively, particularly with the spin move. So, which weight of bag is right for you? I found this guide regarding weight recommendation - based on my experience of using the bag I would say this is a good starting point for selecting the correct one. 5kg (yellow) - bodyweight up to 110lbs (7st12) 8kg (green) - bodyweight 110-150lbs (7st12-10st10) 12kg (red) - bodyweight 150-190lbs (10st10-13st8) 17kg (silver) - bodyweight 210-250lbs (15st-17st12) As a general guide, men can start with the 12kg bag and ladies with the 8kg. Modify this up/down the bag weights depending on your current level of strength and fitness. It is important to consider your bodyweight when selecting; this will make sense as soon as you start spinning the bag at speed as you will quickly notice the effect this has on your stability! I weigh about 15st and I bought the 12kg Bulgarian Bag to compliment the 17kg version I've had for several years. I'm doing Bulgarian Bag workouts 2-3 times a week along with other functional (e.g. Suples Fit Ball) and weight training so was mindful of over-training by using the heavier bag all the time. Also, I'm 48 so my recovery is not what it used to be.....

Bulgarian Bag 17kg
Amazing product for real functional strength and conditioning work. I bought the synthetic leather 17kg bag and train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for which I am finding it extremely useful for improved grip and core conditioning. The 17kg bag is seriously challenging and I highly recommend it.

You wont need to go back to weight machines!
Great product. I work as a MSK Physiotherapist and during a promotional day one of our local council gym instructors introduced me to the bulgarian bag. I used it that day and for a few weeks after at the gym he worked at. I've never felt so 'pumped' after a work out. From a physiotherapy point of view you can produce much more functional strengthening movements with the bag that you cannot with standard weights. Excellent for muscle building and toning. Ditch the standard gym equipment and start your functional training regime with one of these babies and I promise you will never look back. I started with the 12kg red bag at the gym but have purchased the grey bag. I'm 5ft 10in, athletic build, play amateur rugby and the 17kg bag was the right size for me to progress too.
