It's sliced potatoes fried in animal fat, with added salt. It's not a secret recipe. This was before trans fats and chloresterol and modified food starch and everything else designed to remove the joy from eating food.

What supermarkets sell Charles chips?

No stores sell Charles chips I would buy mine at crackle barrel when they sold them but I don't think they do anymore so I just use tin for chip storage now.

Can anyone tell me how big the tin is?

It's a 16th tin. It's smaller than it appears in the ad. When I received the shipment, most of the chips where crushed. I don't recommend this product.
