Sweet Feet and Beak Safety Pumice Bird Perch, X-Small Pedicure Perch, Blue

My parrot loves these perches, they don't hurt his feet like other ones. Like that they are curved and the grit is not completely around the perch like others. That length of no grit on perch gives his feet a break of constant rough surface to stand on and where the grit is helps trim his nails. This is a nice perch, just watch for which way the bars on your cage runs, I could not get end of perch with groove that fits on bar of cage on bar, my cage is different. I put the end of perch through the space between bars and then tightened the end cap down against the bars, still works great. This by far is the best perch I found over the years of having birds.

I purchased a Medium and Large for my Goffin’s Cockatoo. (Smallest cockatoo) I was surprised that he loves to sleep and eat on the LARGE size. I have both sizes in the cage. He carries his food up to the large perch to eat. This has a total dimension of one inch for the inner black part that goes through the cage bars - where you screw the two pieces together. This fits a normal large size cage. I needed this information because I purchased very large washers so I can put one of these perches on a play stand. I even take the perch to my vet when boarding my bird.

I bought 3 of these for my Macaws and it has not disappointed. They're poop magnets, but very easy to clean. I just take them outside and spray with the hose (I usually use the 'vertical' setting on my hose attachment for more force) and all the poo comes off, no scrubbing required. The birds like sitting on them, and they're still in great condition after months of use. I also find that the way it attaches to the cage is more user friendly, instead of a wing nut, it uses a big knob-type back.

My severe likes these perches. I usually get her the medium in purple which seems to be perfect for her size. She has the option to use these as a perch to hang out on if she wants but I try to place them as steps/ a shortcut to get to her toys on top of her cage and to get to her stand where she eats. This way she she’s using them daily and her nails stay trim. I’m a little concerned about her spending to much time on them just because although this is advertised as a “pumice perch” it’s actually just hollow plastic with some sand or pumice lightly coating sides. I’ve asked the seller twice what kind of plastic this is, where it’s made and if this is free of toxins and get no reply. I’m also an overly cautious parrot mama and question everything when it comes to my feather baby. The other down side is the attached plastic piece that connects this perch to a cage. You don’t have the option of removing it to customize or switching to smaller or larger washers to accommodate different sized bars on your cage. Example- I originally purchased this for her ladder but the spacing between the bars are too wide so it can’t be used for that. With that being said, I’m happy to find something in purple and suitable for a female parrot that actually works to file her nails. She walks around on these quite a bit and I started seeing a difference after buying the 3rd perch. I don’t have to take her to get her nails trimmed as often which is great for her and I both!

I bought this for my macaw and I should have gotten the next size down because this one was a little bigger than I thought. He still loves it, but I will order him another one in the other size. I bought this because it has a better end that attaches to the cage. His cages has wider bars and others perches are not very sturdy or the ends slip through the bars in his cage. It going to take a while for him to wear this one down and I am very happy with it.

I love these. They are great at keeping my guys nails filed. However, they’re not adorable. He always manages to break the way they attached to the cage and then I end up throwing them out and having to buy new ones. The plastic attachment just doesn’t work for large birds. Please send me something to reattach them. I have thrown so many out. I have purchased both on here and directly through their website.

I so wish there was less photoshopping of pet supplies in general. (It makes me think there is something about the items they need to hide.) For bird people-screening bird supplies for safety and durability is priority. So here is the scoop- it's a hard hollow plastic with 2 wide strips of sand glued on each side. The attachment is all plastic as well. A determined chewer could make short work of this item. I am giving it 5 stars because the price matches the item. I got exactly what I expected for what I paid. I am satisfied with this perch for my older smallish blue and gold macaw. If you have a big rambunctious determined chewer this would probably be a complete waste of money.

For a bit of context, one of my finches is missing a part of his left talon and as a result doesn’t move around as much and stay as active as his cage mate. His beak became very overgrown, so I bought the x-small perch. Within a week, his beak was gently shaping back and by the second week his beak looked the best it ever has. Both of my finches nails are perfectly trimmed as well, and my particular finch seems to have had an overall boost in his quality of life with the beak maintenance. I would definitely recommend trying this perch out. I’ve used pumice perches in the past with my other bird but they had cut up her feet, with the structuring of this one I’ve had no problems like that at all. I haven’t owned it very long so I’m not too sure how well it’ll hold up in the long run, but with how great the results were I would definitely buy it again if needed.

Our Galah is hardly ever off this Perch, he loves it! Trims his beak regularly and happily. Great Product and highly recommend
