Join Luke on his journey to protect what he loves with this engaging children's picture book about sustainability and acting green. After noticing the damage caused to the environment and animals due to trash and waste, Luke decides to take action. He believes he can have a big impact on the world around him and invites his readers to join him! Using his phrase, ‘Not for me, please!’ Luke role models how children can harness their inner super-hero and help protect the environment. He introduces the concept of Recycle, Reduce, and Reuse through relatable examples children can understand. The rhyming story is catchy and the illustrations are captivating. Let's choose to recycle, reduce, and reuse; and with my strong phrase, there's no way we lose! Here are some examples to show what I mean, and how you can join me and begin to act green. FACTOIDS Interesting facts, definitions, and statistics can be found in 'info' boxes throughout the book. The info boxes give a wonderful chance for rich discussions on sustainability, choices, and change at home, in kindergarten, elementary schools, or in reading groups. REFLECTION At the end of the book, there is a reflection section to prompt dialogue about the topics covered in the book: environment, sustainability, zero waste, impact of plastic, climate change, what it means to recycle, reduce, and reuse, single use plastic, water and energy conservation, and acting green. Children can put in their own words what they have learned and how it applies to them. Not for me, please! I choose to act green is ideal for children age 5, age 6, age 7, age 8, and age 9. Grab your copy in time for Earth Day today! Review: GREEN TEAM - What a clever way to explain the concept of recycling to young children. Godsey uses a young boy presented in the guise of a superhero. At first, Luke is like most children who pay no attention to conserving the earth’s resources. When Luke notices trash all around him, he decides that he will become a part of the solution rather than the problem. Luke shows his readers how to follow the three R’s: reduce, recycle and reuse. He discusses the problems of trash in the ocean, in our homes and in our schools. He talks about energy conservation tactics a child can practice like turning off faucets, being mindful of unnecessary electricity, and avoiding one-use plastics and paper. While the text is written in rhyme in simple language, the author includes teaching and discussion points at the bottom of each page. At the end of the book, a reflections page summarizes the content in the book and facilitates group discussion. This book is particularly targeted at the elementary school age child, but it is a richly illustrated and pleasing choice for a reader of any age. Review: This is THE school tool to educate 6–9 y kids on environment - If you search for a children’s book that explains, what is our responsibility and what can we do, for the environment, then you have found the book you were looking for! The illustrations in the book are wonderful. The story s written in rhyme. It’s a nice, an easy to read narrative, that entertains and drawn the children's attention. I love the way that at the bottom of each page, the author explain more to the children (and adults) so they have a better idea of what is going on by pollution and what we all can do. The questions at the end of the book can be used as a good guideline for parents, teachers, caretakers, grandparents… to discuss with their kids. While and after reading ‘Not for me, please! I choose to act green’ my first reflection was that because of this all, this book needs to be in the school program (6-9 y) everywhere, it is THE tool to use in schools. Do you have it already in your school library? No, well go out and get it, you will not regret!

A GREAT children's book that entertains and enlightens children
A GREAT children's book that entertains and enlightens children, as well as adults. Maria Godsey uses clever rhyming, imagery and storytelling, wrapped in colorful and lively illustrations, to convey a simple, yet important message; responsibility starts with an idea, and one simple action and from there can grow like an acorn into an Oak. Not only will young readers identify with this wonderful book, but Mom, Dad, Teachers and all adults who read it are sure to find themselves smiling, while also doing some important thinking. "Not for me, please! I choose to act green," is a wonderful addition to any child's bookshelf. Can't wait to read more from this new author!

I was searching for a book that would help my grandchildren be more aware of making the earth a better place. This is the perfect book to help ...
I have grandchildren that live in Europe, and they are very conscientious about recycling, reusing, and all the trash that is thrown away and finds its way into lakes and various places. My grandchildren who live in the United States are not as aware of recycling and reusing. I was searching for a book that would help my grandchildren be more aware of making the earth a better place. This is the perfect book to help children understand how recycling, reducing, and reusing are very important. The illustrations are great and the rhyming text is very easy for children to listen to. The interesting facts at the bottom of some pages really do help explain more to the children and answer their questions. All of my grandchildren love this book, including the ones that live in Europe. I highly recommend this book and will get a copy for each of my grandchildren’s classrooms.

No cover for book
Really like this book a lot! Great message. Really nice graphics. However, my book didn't come with a cover for the hardback. And there's no where I can ask the question if it is supposed to. But all my other hardback books come with covers so it seems like something is missing? But not sure if it was done on purpose to reduce paper.

Books like this are much-needed!
Helps kids to understand pollution and how to act in a responsible way. The text is clear, fun to read and gives catchy, good solutions. The illustrations are very nice, done in a cool style - mixing painted images with photo collages - this technique works very well for representing the garbage and all the plastic junk. I really think every kid should have a book like this in their home.

The best book for our little environmentalist
This is our favorite book. It’s so easy to read, the illustrations are great too. My son is 22 months and loves to tell people “not me” (not for me, please). He talks about marine debris and the sad animals. I also love to pack it when he goes to his grandparents house as a not so subtle hint about the plastic abuse and excess toys they buy him. I have nothing bad to say about this book and plan on buying it for every kid in our life.

Great Book
Great book to teach kids about responsibility and the environment through an engaging and relatable story. I particularly liked the dual layer approach with additional, relevant, information at the bottom of each page that gives more specific details if needed, but if not you can just focus on the story itself. Also beautifully illustrated, if you're interested in this topic and discussing with your kids highly recommended.

Not for me please
Even the youngest kids who can read, can start to be greener and make their own choices. Through Luke's journey we see the harm done by discarded trash and the many better options which exist. Each page has a colourful picture, a rhymed few sentences, and underneath a small-print explanation with longer words. This may be helpful to adults. I enjoyed this cheerful little read and I suggest it would go down well with a class or Scouts, or for a family discussion point. The main theme is giving the child agency, so they know it is okay to refuse a plastic straw or bottled water. I downloaded an ARC from the author. This is an unbiased review.

So important for our future
We had so much fun reading and discussing this book with our kids. We were amazed at how much they were able to soak in and learn. Already in the first days after, they are asking questions and more conscious of their choices and the impact they have on others. We also enjoyed the facts at the bottom of the pages. They really helped educate us as parents/adults. We find that the book even had a powerful impact on us. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in having an impact on the world around them and particularly helping their children discover the role that they can and should play in the world.

Great message and easy story to follow for 4+
Originally bought for my 4yr old daughter and now being read to her by her 8 year old sister. Both of them really enjoy it - easy to follow and lands the message without lecturing. It's made a big impact on them. Plastic straws are now out of the house on their instruction - and my 4 yr old is trying to save the oceans picking up one piece of plastic at a time!

Klare Botschaft liebevoll umgesetzt. Empfehlung!
Klare Empfehlung!
