Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light Acoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Antique Brown

Being an airline pilot I have been on a quest to find the perfect travel guitar and my quest has ended here, this thing is fantastic! For traveling it really doesn’t get any better. Since I spend lots of time in hotel rooms it’s important that it’s not too loud. With the headphone amp and headphones or my Bose bluetooth speaker I can customize the sound as to not bother whoever is in the next room (some hotel walls are better than others!) and being it full scale and just a high quality instrument the sound quality is way better than any of the mini travel guitars I’ve owned. It’s also nice at home to be able to play and not bother my wife or kids if they’re still sleeping. I know other reviews have mentioned the quality and action being really good and that is definitely true. I made no adjustments to this out of the box and the action is really low, it’s really easy to play. It would be great to learn on for that reason. With the lap rest on it’s easy to balance it on your left leg so it’s not neck heavy like a lot of reviews have said. I like using a strap because it’s easy to position it right where you want it. I know it’s closer in to your body than a full size guitar but I actually kind of prefer the way this plays. I have tried both the acoustic and electric headphone amps by traveler. The electric one is fun to play with but the acoustic definitely sounds the best. The only negative I’ve encountered so far is that sometimes the headphone amp can have some sort of internal vibration that’s kind of annoying. It happens with both my headphone amps so I don’t think it’s a defective unit. It only happens sometimes and seems to correct itself if I rotate the headphone amp a bit. I know some sort of plug in extension cord would take care of this too but I haven’t tried that yet. It also holds its tune really well, even with all the traveling it seems like I very rarely need to touch the tuners. Overall this thing is great I highly recommend it. ……… A few years in. This thing is still great. I was given a traveler pro series and I still tend to play this one more. A while ago I decided to modify it to fit in my roll aboard suitcase. I cut off the top four frets (so like it’s capo’d on 5). I just cut the truss rod too and re-installed the headstock piece and tuned it only two steps up from standard. It still sounds and works great. I’m glad I did it.

For the price its not a cheap little toy so I do expect this to be fully functional, which it absolutely is, when unplugged its as quiet as an unplugged electric guitar, theres no real "acoustic" unplugged sound to it, so for me its nice for practicing without bothering people. The reason I got it is for travel, going to the beach, flying to another state, I dont have to worry about taking one of my $1k guitars and something happening to it. Its definantly more sturdy than a hollow acoustic guitar thats for sure, like im not afraid of accidently smacking It on something and breaking it. The tuning knobs are OK, could be better but it holds its tune very well, just feels like the strings are a little grippy probably from the acoustic bridge, and the fact that they are being tuned across backwards, pulling the string across the piazo to tune. Intonation and action are set pretty perfectly right out of the box, mine even came perfectly in tune which kinda made me laugh. I was considering the electric version vs the acoustic version because of the adjustable bridge and ability to set intonation I originally ally chose this acoustic version thinking it was going to be louder acoustically without any speaker, the video is a bit misleading on that part, in my mind it doesn't sound anywhere near as loud as in the video. The input jack does in fact need to be opened up and tightened , its loose from the start and ive experienced this before as a beginner that even 1 twist to tighten without gripping the nut under the plastic plate can break the wires inside. Plugged in using my small rock on amp it sounds good, theres definantly some minor "fuzz" id guess you'd call.it, not feedback but almost like if a pickup was trying to read 2 strings ar the same time and kinda blending them when chords are played And the output from the low e seems to be lower than the other strings so its a touch quiter. The leg rest at first confused me because theres a notch on the end of the first bat which slides into the body of the guitar so I figured it must like "pop" into some kind of locking mechanism that would prevent it from sliding out but theres definantly no "locking" feeling when its put all the way it BUT I do think it has something to do with holding it in because once its in you can hold the guitar without supporting it and it doesn't just slide out but when intentionally pulling it out there zero resistance so kinda nice. Neck plays like a low actioned acoustic, it has the thickness of an acoustic guitar neck but the strings are easier to press than my personal acoustic guitar yet haven't had any buzzing problems on 3rd fret buzz test The case is a simple over the shoulder/ handle case I will say the handle needs to be about 2 inches further forward for the weight to be correctly distributed and carried properly, as it is the weight it forward and makes the neck hang down which is awkward and the reason I will never carry it this way but it comes with a cross shoulder strap which fits perfectly comfortably across my back. All in all I only gave 4/5 stars on value for money, because I really feel this should be more around $200-$230 , vs the $300+ i paid for it BUT That said, I'd easily purchase this again seeing as theres nothing that is quite like it and theres nothing about it that stands out as a blaring issue, looking forward to having it wherever I go!

So, despite the title I LOVE this guitar. It’s not loud but very light and super small. It’s the perfect practice instrument. However, the tuners are straight up garbage. Holds tune for a practice session but absolutely terrible holding tune longer than that. But the real issue is that dialing it back in is not smooth. Pretty standard tuners and, believe it or not, you can buy their $60 locking tuners. Standard replacement for the tuners so you can use another brand. Overall though, I’d absolutely buy it again.

This will fit in an airline overhead. Mine fits (without the gig bag) diagonally in my 25” roller suitcase. It is quiet enough for a hotel room. I can play it in the den while my wife watches TV. It is full scale (on the long side) so it is good for practice. It sounds great with my Vox amped headset. The quality is good. It buzzed at first but I cured that with a truss rod adjustment (included wrench). The action is good. If your goal is a practice guitar on the road or if others are nearby, it’s a great choice. I wouldn’t use it as a performance guitar though it might work with a small speaker/amp but it doesn’t have the resonance of a “real” guitar. For the reason I bought it - quiet practice and portability - I’d totally buy it again. I think the price is reasonable given the quality.

Caveat, I might be writing too soon as I just got the guitar a few hours ago, but I am so happy with it I'll write a review now and edit later if any issues come up. I bought it with the idea of traveling, but honestly I probably never will take it camping or whatever, that possibility is certainly there if you want. It feels quite sturdy, it is tiny, it comes with a nice little case already stringed up. Everything about it is ingenious from inverting the tuners to putting the jack into the peg that holds the strap. With the little extension bars it really doesn't feel that different. My father also plays guitar and said he "cant get used to it, feels weird to hold" but I didn't feel that at all. You honestly only ever touch the fretboard and the bottom side of a guitar anyway so it feels fine in the lap, feels fine on a strap. Action on the strings is very nice for me, very easy to play. I re-strung it although the factory D'Addario strings are fine, I just wanted to see how easy it is and it's honestly just as if not a little easier than a standard guitar, sounds absolutely fine. I play-tested w my strat and this thing, and I can't notice any difference in sound quality at all from my $1400 guitar. Other people might as some people get very into the weeds with that sort of thing, but honestly who is buying a traveler guitar to record an album? Anyway, love it.

If you're considering this guitar, it has to be solely because you want something that doesn't take up a lot of space. In that respect it is ideal. Full size scale (24-3/4" nut to bridge), but still the most compact guitar ever. You do have to realize, though, that there are some compromises you have to make. So here they are: 1) Like most compacts, it is neck heavy. Even using a strap on the buttons provided, it will point down. I manage this by tying the top end of the strap above the nut. You can also use the thigh rest, but again, it will tend to tilt down. 2) There is no place to rest your right arm. You can kind of rest your forearm on the corner, right above the output jack, but it's not as comfortable as most full size guitars. If you strum, his will probably cramp your style a bit. 3) There is no sound box, so to play you need a small amp. You can practice with just the sound the strings make (which is kind of a feature, since you can practice very quietly, if you are concerned about bothering others), but you're not going to want anyone else to hear it without an amp. And that is literally ALL. Everything else is perfect. It is very nicely built and finished, and I can't wait to pick it up every day to practice. The strings are extra light D'Addario EJ15s, which are perfect for me. My last guitar, long ago, was a Squier Strat, and this guitar is superior to it in every way. My best Amazon purchase ever.

Bought specifically for international air travel in my checked duffle. It is actually a pretty nice guitar with good tuners and the intonation is fine. It takes some getting used to (tuners in the back - restringing is very different) but it is functional. I play sitting mostly and the lap piece attachment works well for me. I could gig with it in a pinch.

This is my second guitar from Traveler. My Escape Mk III was fantastic and this one seems to be just as good.

This GUITAR has beautiful sound and looks amazing. It’s compact and exceeds expectations in every way.

I do two or three air trips a year for business and I can finally bring a guitar I don’t have to worry about. It fits in my luggage, seems as tough as a board and is perfectly playable. The neck has a very good feel and is well finished, and with good fret work. I found the stock ultralight strings far too light, so I put a set of 12-53 on, tightened the truss rod a quarter turn and now it’s perfect. I figured I’d only play it while travelling but have found it useful for practicing at night after the rest of the family has gone to sleep. Unless it’s dead quiet you need the headphone amp as it makes little sound on its own, though that’s fine in the living room or a hotel room late at night. After owning it for two months I wish I’d bought one years ago.
