Zippers on different sides allow us to put the blanket on baby after she falls asleep without waking her up. And our baby loves having her feet out when she sleeps, so we leave the bottom open. Even if we close the bottom on some colder days, there's still a lot of room inside for baby's feet to kick around. This is the second size that we bought for the same blanket. The first one we bought was a smaller size which we used on our baby when she is little. The polka dot one has lasted through 2 kids wearing it and the fleece one broke right away.
