They are not small.
The description describes them as small. They are not, they are large, although fairly easy to swallow. This is not an acceptable marketing practice in my view. The capsules all seem to be coated in powder, presumably due to the manufacturing process and this makes taking them rather messy.Far too expensive.

A good supplement let down by high price and low piperine dosage
A good one-a-day curcumin supplement that actually provides a good dosage with added piperine, but is just too expensive and may be a little underdosed for piperine. For £36, this includes 60 capsules containing 527mg of 95% standardised curcumin extract from turmeric, with 5.3mg of piperine to enhance bioavailability.Clinical trials explore the bioavailability of curcumin coupled with different additives, such such fish oil or piperine from black pepper. Examine.com reference over 300 clinical trials and recommend, from the data, a dosage of 500mg 95% standardised curcumin with 20mg of piperine, so the piperine content of this supplement could ideally be 4x higher. For the price and the underdosed piperine, I would not buy this supplement again, as comparable supplements are available for about half the price. However, it is as effective as any other comparable supplement and has kept mine and my father's symptoms of inflammation and oesteoarthritis at a manageable level, which has not worsened sinced switching from other to this.

It's confusing these days...
Apologies for the Bowie quote in the title of this review, but it really is confusing when there are so many different brands of popular health food supplements all containing slightly different dosages and blends. We know that curcumin (derived from turmeric) helps reduce inflammation in the body, and specifically helps with aching joints, but how much should you take and what should it be mixed with? This brand says each one-a-day capsule contains 527mg of Curcumin and 5.3mg piper nigrum (otherwise known as black pepper) which is supposed to aid absorption of the curcumin. This seems to compare well with my previous brand (Solgar Full Spectrum) which contains 40g of curcumin per one-a-day dose and no black pepper, although that brand claims to be a form of curcumin which is 185 times better at encouraging takeup by the body. How they know these things I'm not sure! At any rate, this brand costs approximately the same as the Solgar for twice as many capsules, so if it works as well (so far it seems to) then I'll stick with it. The capsules are bigger and more difficult to swallow than the Solgar, perhaps - that's the only downside I can see so far. But better information about composition and the reasons for it would be welcome.

Power packed...
I've tried both Curcumin extract and raw Turmeric supplements, both with added black pepper extracts to aid absorption, but I haven't noticed a massive difference in the effects but I think maybe the Curcumin versions have an edge. These Tom Oliver Curcumin Complete capsules contain a concentrated Curcumin extract so you only need to take one per day but they're a slightly chunky size so maybe not the easiest to swallow. They have a faint spicy Turmeric aroma but no taste and they're best taken with food, otherwise you get some spicy-scented burps.I've been taking Curcumin/Turmeric for a little while now with no negative effects and so didn't expect to have any problem with these and they seem to be of very good quality. My only issue is with the price because they're definitely on the expensive side but if they deliver as much active Curcumin as they claim then they might actually work out a pretty good deal when you consider there's two month's supply in the jar. It might sound like a minor thing but only having to take one-per-day makes a difference, some Turmeric supplements deliver less active Curcumin with 3 or 4 capsules per day.

Made in the UK
This curcumin product, which is derived from turmeric, is combined with black pepper, and that seems to be recommended to help with absorption. I take a turmeric or curcumin supplement occasionally because I believe it is helpful was inflammation. These aren't the smallest capsules to swallow nor are they the cheapest. However, they do look like a reputable brand and they are made in the UK.
