Travelon Anti-Theft Heritage Tote Bag

I bought this bag primarily for my upcoming study abroad program. I wanted something cute and functional but still be anti-theft because of where I'm going happens to be a pick-pocket hot spot. I really like this bag because it's not a typical looking anti-theft bag so I don't appear to be some paranoid tourist.This bag is a bit bigger than I anticipated and heavier than most totes. However, one of the features is an anti-slash metal mesh embedded into the bag so once you account for that it's not too bad. I will suggest that if you are using this for an everyday bag with no specific purpose other than to carry a wallet, you may want something else.But it is very room. There are two side pockets you can't really see in the picture which is nice for small items. The main pocket is huge though. I tested it out to see what I can fit. It's roomy enough for my Surface Pro 4 in a hard shell case, a 3 subject notebook, a pencil case, a wallet, a book and there was more than enough space left. I'd say that this could even be a weekend or overnight bag.Overall, it's a pretty sweet bag that's stylish and functional and really not as expensive as some other bags I've bought. It's also a lot sturdier and I don't think it'll break to easily.

Other reviews talk about the measurement of the bag flattened but the key measurement is the 13.5" of the opening at the top, so despite the bag being wide enough to fit a larger laptop when flattened, you can't get one bigger than a 14" MacBook Pro in this bag. I carry two laptops while traveling plus a 13" iPad so I had hoped I could fit all three in this bag. But my 16" laptop will not fit. But it is a great travel bag, very sturdy, and has extra anti-theft features for those of us who travel with a lot of electronics. It's very roomy, I can easily fit my MacBook Pro, 13" iPad, and a Sony mirrorless camera w/ a small lens in the bag. It also has a strap on the back to attach to rolling luggage while traveling.

This is an amazing bag. It is not highly structured so will not stand on its own; however, the fabric is durable, it has plenty of pockets, and is the perfect size. The anti-theft features are great as well. One of the best things about the bag is it’s perfect for concealed carry. The pockets go all the way to the bottom of the bag and the zipper locks so the weight of my Sig Sauer doesn’t make the bag fold over. It has a more casual look but is perfect for every day as well as travel. Highly recommend!

Pros:- Feels nice, like it's quality construction. Metal hardware, solid-feeling fabric. The straps aren't slippery. I don't know if the suede detailing is real or not, but so far it looks good.- Doesn't look like yet another travel bag.- Roomy. Has a nice number of pockets on the inside and outside. (NOTE: there are no hidden pockets on the side panels. If there are, they are so well-hidden I could not find them. I'm still happy with the pockets that are present.)- Has a key tether.Cons:- This is pretty heavy for a cloth bag, possibly because of the antitheft properties of the fabric. Therefore, you probably want to avoid packing it to the max. However, it's still lighter than leather.- Comes with the cheapest looking little flashlight I have EVER seen. Seriously. It works, but it looks and feels like a joke.

Love everything about this bag. Perfect size. Holds my oversized iPad and so much more. Can tell it is super durable. Will be using this more than just for traveling.

I love this bag and the color! It's a nice size and I like the interior and the zippered pockets on this. It is a sturdy bag and I feel like it will hold up for a long time. I would definitely buy this again!

Love this bag! I bought it for our two week visit to Alaska (by train and by sea). The size was perfect to carry my valuables and important documents (with room to spare for a few other small items) while traveling by plane, train, bus and ship. It was comfortable both as a crossbody and shoulder bag. I had everything I needed during travel from place to place. The bag is well made and sturdy.

The bag is well-made (although one of the pocket zippers got stuck repeatedly, as mentioned by another reviewer) and sturdy, making it seem a durable product. The bag is large enough to hold anything you could possibly need while out and about -- water bottles, umbrella, DSLR camera, phone, wallet, passport, extra sweater, e-reader, etc etc. However, this all leads to the bag being very, very heavy. (The bag itself is heavy with nothing in it.) I purchased the bag to take on a trip to France and found the security features offered a great peace of mind. Carrying the bag for long periods of time (i.e. longer than 5-10 minutes), however, caused great strain and pain. The bag is very stylish as well, and it didn't embarrass my husband to carry the bag -- although, he, too, found it too heavy and painful to carry. We both came home with bruised and sore shoulders. Hence, returning the bag.

Product looks good and is well made. The strap makes the bag slightly heavy but it can be carried comfortably as a tote without the strap.

I use this bag when I travel. I did buy an insert to put in it just to keep things a bit more organised. Perfect size as it holds quite a lot. My iPad, travel documents, large headphones, purse, charger, battery, water bottle and more! The lockable zips give me some piece of mind when travelling. It is a little large for my everyday bag. Although I would have used it everyday when my kids were little. It's a big bag on the inside but not too big on the outside!

The material wears well and I love this bag! I took it on vacation shortly after receiving it and it was great for carrying everything from wallet to snacks and water bottles. The bag is made of slit-proof material including the (thick) shoulder strap, so the bag is heavier than many other bags which was a common complaint in the reviews I read, but I actually preferred the weight because it kept it from slipping off my shoulder and it also made it so that you could feel it (so you know it hasn't fallen or been slipped off your shoulder). For those who feel it is heavy, I suggest you remove the shoulder strap as it is very thick and adds a lot of the weight. The thick material also offered good protection of my DSLR camera (which I wrapped in a small towel and kept inside this bag) and insulated cold bottles well in a hot climate. After a lot of usage, the material stood up really great - there was one natural catch in the material that you can see in the photo, but otherwise you could not notice the wear in the grey material. I've compared a well used to a brand new bag in the picture, and you can only really see a difference in the brown suede accent pieces which got darker and looked more worn than the rest of the bag. My only criticism is to use a material that wears better than the suede. But the bag itself is fantastic! Love the zippered pockets on the outside - one on each side which is great and one of them is an anti-theft one that clips shut. There is a LARGE zippered pocket on the inside with RFID blocking material which is great to zip your wallet into so that you can go in and out of the bag without risk to the wallet. The inner pockets on the other side are great for cell phones, chargers, pens, lipsticks, kleenex, or anything else you want to quickly find/access. I love the design of it for travel or for everyday.
