Christmas?
I loved this series - everything about it! First, I loved Jane and Shanty. I so enjoyed their love for each other. These books are so thoughtfully written! They are not fast paced which allowed for excellent character development. As a result you really get to know the characters well. I so enjoyed spending time with each of them - well, except for the bad guys. I loved Jane and Shanti's home. I enjoyed his garden. I loved the rain and the mud and the heat. I was always waiting for it to get cooler - knowing it would't. Poor Ella, but I know that with Jane as a friend, she will be alright. Thank you for such a wonderful series.

Disappointing
I have come to really like the Inspector de Silva series and generally look forward to the next book in the series. However, book 5, seemed hastily assembled and the conclusions a bit forced. The crowning touch was when, based upon little or no concrete evidence, the author allowed the white wife to come up with a solution. Are we going to see a trend where she is smarter than he is, and eventually, she quietly ends up providing the solutions to his cases? I certainly hope not.

Short, but still good.
Fun story, like all the other Nuala books, but I wish this one was much longer. I’m guessing this is one of those “mini” Christmas stories that it’s become popular for series authors to release at the holidays. (Perhaps this is more common with British authors/series? Just occurred to me everything I’ve read lately is by British authors.) Hoping for a new full length book soon!

A QUARREL LED TO MURDER
An enjoyment of what Christmas is like in a different era and place. One didn’t expect a.quarrel after they all left, to end in murder of the Uncle. With.Jane by his side the Inspector has a case to solve, of which Jane has the missing piece. Good series, and this is an added one to enjoy during the holidays.

I love this series!
This series is just wonderful. I started out with the first one, and I'm working on book four. I enjoy de Silva and his lovely wife Jane. These are "gentle" reads, even though they deal with murder, and they're historical as well, so I like learning about that part of the world and that time period. Highly recommended!

Clever way of framing someone for murder.
I liked this book because it was Mrs de Silva who figured out how the murder framing was set up and Mrs Clutterbuck who convinced her husband to try out the idea. Reading these books makes me wish I could visit Ceylon (now Sri Lanka).

Wonderful book
What a delightful story. This is a short story that takes place at Christmas involving an old recluse, two nephews and murder. Why is this delightful well this time Jane, Inspector's de Silva's wife is involved and she is good at solving crimes. Hopefully Jane will be solving more crimes to come. I highly recommend this series.

epitome of "cozy" mystery
I love this series set in Ceylon! I grew up in the tropics in a "colonial" type environment....just now figuring out the big picture of what that means, but as a mystery lover and someone who misses my tropical home it is perfect.

Not the best plot but still a good read
I like this series. This is the weakest plot yet - it was obvious what was going on - but the story is well written, both characters and grammar (sometimes I give up on books where the use of English is really poor). De Silva and his surrounding characters are agreeable and the setting is well drawn

Another good yarn.
Thougherly enjoyed all the books in the series. A glimpse of life in the 1930’s under British rule. It follows the same police detective and his wife and their every day life and how they solve the murders that happen around this time.
