Olympus DS4000 Professional Hand Held Digital Voice Recorder

This unit works perfectly. Cost about 25% of original unit it replaced. Great deal!!!

This renewed digital voice recorder did not work & the battery cover wouldn't stay on. This was the first time I received a product from Amazon that did not work.

Good deal

This is a good product and works effectively, BUT whatever you do, do NOT drop it. The battery compartment is on the corner of the bottom of the recorder. The door to this compartment is plastic and VERY FRAGILE!!! The battery is spring loaded and is kept in the compartment by the plastic door. A very tiny piece of the plastic door broke off my recorder when it was dropped and now the door won't close all the way. Because the door won't close, the battery won't stay in and it won't even charge. I sent it back to Olympus for repair. No can do. They said it was "damaged beyond repair". So a little plastic piece of a door has completely disabled my $450.00 recorder. Olympus' only suggestion... replacement. What is wrong with this picture???

Have been using this Olympus dictator for about a year now, and it's great. Sound quality is not perfect, but over all it is ten thousand per cent better than using tape (my first experience with dictation machines was with a Norelco unit that had an auto feeding reel to reel tape set up). Since this is digital, I can take the unit and a lap top wherever I go. I can dictate a letter or document, load the dictation file through a USB port, email it to my office, and get back a word processing file for me to edit and return (or send to a client). At the included software is used to make completed dictation available to, and transcribable by, staff, but the software is not necessary for sending from remote locations.

Not a real improvement and where is the pause button. Did you really have to take this away.....
