Easier to raise and lower trailer tailgate.
The lift installation can be challenging for novice people who never operated a 1/2" drill and drill bit. The instructions were okay, but I found a video which helped with the installation. I recommend you lay out the side rails in the trailer prior to drilling any holes, as in my case the trailer's vertical braces interfered with two bolt holes, making it difficult to install the bolts and tighten them. Once the installation was complete, the lift performed well, no straining to lift the tailgate and letting it down was easier. I wish I had installed the Gorilla Lift years ago. I highly recommend this product.

Great product. Great customer service.
I have a large dual axle trailer. The gate weighs 100lbs+. It has always been a bit of a pain to open/close. After a severe back injury I insulated these. Instalation was straight forward and went well. I also purchased the handle. These work great. A real game changer. I can open and close the gate with no effort and all. Thanks to the handle I dont even have to bend over. Customer support is fantastic. Definitely recommend.

Works great
Great product idea great pricing easy installation and works great helped lift my gate with ease. I would however prefer a little thicker housing spring slipped off by accident with some tension and broke the housing nothing a little weld couldn’t fix but other than that perfect.

Great product with a few modifications.
After installing the product lifting my trailer gate is so much easier. Couple of things I would change is where the lift cables attach to the gate itself it had 2 long bolts that attached the cable to the gate door with washers and lock nuts. I went to the hardware store and purchased 2 stainless 3/4 inch eye bolts with washers and nuts. Notched out the eye bolt just enough to get the cable attached using a vice and a hacksaw. Personally think it looks better and adds strength. Also had to end up replacing all of the carriage bolts because they were not long enough for my trailer. Replaced them with 5/16 in carriage bolts 4 inch long with proper washers and lock nuts. Little extra length on the bolts made it a lot easier to mount up. Mounted the gate lift on a round pipe trailer. After doing that it is a breeze to raise and lower my trailer gate now. Product needs to come with 2 - 2x2 square plug caps for the ends of the square tube when finished installing. Has some minor sharp edges that can be buffed out but needs end caps.I purchased some of those separately and popped them in the square tube. All said and done got everything mounted and it looks great and performs great. Makes my life a whole lot easier now.

Excellent product sans metric hardware
Works great, relatively easy install in 3 hours or less. Good instructions and plenty of videos online to watch. My only complaint/remarks is for the price they should include 8-M8x 20mm carriage bolts for those of us that have angle iron sides, 2-1/2 bolts sticking down from your angle iron would look silly and unprofessional. Also using imperial hardware instead of metric would make it easier and more economical to replace missing/lost/ dropped/ replacement / or damaged hardware. M8 carriage bolts aren't readily available in most US locations. For my install instead of spending $13 for 8-M8x20mm carriage bolts at TS, I spent $1.50 for 10- 5/16x1 carriage bolts, 10 -5/16 lock washers, 10 5/16-18 hex nuts. in case I dropped one. Also the instructions should only mention metric hardware since that's what they include.

Great Addition and I Really Like It, But Needs More Engineering
I have a tilt-gate trailer like the one they picture except it has 2-7/16" OD round tubular top rails, not flat rails. The yellow spring housings come in two pieces to allow a shorter shipping box. You butt them up and then bolt them down, two bolts for each piece of tubing. However, there's nothing to align the two yellow tubes together. Thus flat-bottomed square tubes are precariously sitting on top of round tubular rails. You are instructed to drill oversized holes through the mounting rails. This allows you to reposition the square tubes before tightening them down, but also allows the two tubes to move slightly as they absorb eventual road vibrations. The yellow spring housing tubes can become misaligned after a while. If that happens, the long garage-style springs inside the housing hang up on the misaligned tube edges in the middle and "boing" as they slip off. They should have welded ears onto the tubes that force the tubes to stay aligned or be hinged so that they are mechanically aligned after installation. Also, be aware that the threaded bolts are all metric. The carriage bolts look like they're 5/16-18 thread, and say so in the instructions, but they are not. The gate-mounting bolts look like they are 1/2-13, but they are not. The carriage bolts supplied are not long enough to go through my 2-7/16" tubular top rails. I had to purchase eight new galvanized carriage bolts (didn't want them to rust). That's when I discovered the threads were not SAE. The supplied nuts did not fit properly. One of the great features of this type of trailer is that you can fold the gate forward onto the bed to get it out of the wind for significantly less drag and better mileage. If you employ their permanently-attached cable system and its 6" long metric 1/2" bolts, you can never fold the gate inward -- the bolts make the gate too wide to fit inward. If you look at the pictures, you'll see that I rigged up a different system using shorter, custom-cut 1/2-13 threaded rod with locknuts, washers and a hitch pin. This allows me easily to remove the cables and still fold the gate inward on return highway trips when empty or lightly loaded. I now have the best of both worlds: an easy-lifting gate and an inwardly foldable gate. Finally, a word on the springs. Since they have no idea how heavy or large your ramp-gate is, they supply two coaxial springs that are really strong. Two springs, one inside the other for each side, comprise the default setup. This means you have five spring combinations to choose from. 1. Both inner and outer springs on both sides, if your gate is really heavy. 2. Both outer springs (no inner springs) on both sides, if the gate is heavy. 3. One outer spring on one side, both inner/outer springs on the other side if the gate is a bit less heavy. 4. One inner spring on one side, one outer spring on the other side. 5. One inner spring on both sides. You test the gate using various combinations and S hooks until you're happy with the balance. The problem is that to get the springs apart so you can use only the inner spring, you have to cut the outer spring's loop and pull the larger outer spring off the pair. This renders the spring almost unusable if you change your mind. It's a bit confusing in print. Weigh your combinations carefully before cutting. Out of the box and per side, you can attach the cable to 1) both springs or 2) the outer, larger spring. You can't attach to the just the smaller, inner spring by itself. Because my gate is fairly light, the combination I needed was a single inner spring on one side and one outer spring on the other side. I cut the large outer spring off with an angle grinder. You'd need a very large bolt cutter, or maybe a hacksaw, to cut the spring. But spring steel is very tough. Don't know if a hacksaw would make it. Anyway, now that the gate is balanced fairly well, it's simply a matter of picking it up with my toe and it rises easily into position to be locked off. Very handy indeed.

Wonderful Addition to my trailer
I am so happy I made this purchase. Will save my back wear and tear for sure. While the instructions were ok they are a little vague. I like pictures so had to look up install video otherwise may have had to redue some steps. I hope they decide in the very near future to put 1” as well as 2 1/2” bolts in the assembly package. Trailers in general have wheel wells and frankly I can’t believe no one mentioned this in any reviews. Those areas take a much shorter bolt. Good thing I have a treasure chest of tools. I had a cutting wheel & Tap & Die set to rethread the bolt after cutting at 1”. This added about an hour + to my project. No biggie as I know it’s “Always” something so I planned the entire day thinking it would take me 2 - 2 1/2 hrs and actually took me a bit over 4 hrs. Honestly I only needed one of these installed. When I put the second one on it pulls the gate up. The product is made too well in that sense. Since I had it installed I just assembled it very slack. It’s littlerally no effort to open or close. A nudge and it about closes itself. No more moaning and groaning after a long day at work bending over that last time to lift that god awful 75lb floppy gate. Great product with only mention of the additional (8) 1”-1.5” bolts just to address any wheel wells that require a much shorter bolt as most people don’t just happen to have a Tap & Die kit & grinder with a diamond cutting blade laying around. Charge $15-$20 more to cover their costs and people won’t have to go to extremes or make a trip to ACE hardware. Well done Gorilla Incorp!

Ramp springs
It’s a good tailgate lift helper , however I’ve had to replace the both cables over the years ( about 6) , but it doesn’t allow me to lay the ramp down on the deck now
