Bear bag hanging made simple.
This is the easiest and most reliable way to hang a bear bag that I have ever used. I bought one for my grandson since he was so impressed when we used mine on a hiking trip.

Bear Bag, Rock Sock & Ropes
The Selkirk Bear Bag system served me well on a recent backpacking trip on the Pinhoti Trail. The two rope system worked like a charm and the whole package was light weight and small, making it ideal for backpacking. Kept my food dry and secure.

Grommets Pulling Out Of Bag
Update: They replaced the whole kit without issue so I increased my review to 4 stars. The grommets on the new rock bag seem more secure. I'll be putting it to use next weekend and will post if I have any new problems. This is a great system and a great price, but durability of the grommets on the rock bag is poor. I only used it for two nights and the grommets are already pulling out of the bag. Maybe I got a defective bag. Quality of the food bag, cords and carabiners seem good. I plan to contact the company for a replacement. I'll update the review depending on how that goes.

Really nice design - field tested thumbs up
If you're like me, when you look at what's included in this package you think "I could do that for $5". And that's true. But this was just the right amount of paracord and the little bag worked so well to hold some rocks and throw - I was really happy with the purchase. Took it into Glacier natnl park for a few nights and it hefted the enclosed bag plus two others - probably 15 pounds total - up up and away from the bears. The double-carabiner system was also really nice as a pulley set up and having some waterproof instructions was great vs. having to figure it out in the fading light as you try to get dinner ready. Efficient, packs small, does the job. I wish I could say that about all of my gear.

Super easy to hang.
The bottom strap broke off, operator error, so do not try to hang that way or another bag from it. Overall it is very easy to hang. I hav not tested the rain proof part if it yet. Exactly what I needed.

OK for Beginners, Not Necessary for Experienced or UL Backpackers
This kit is everything a beginner would need to hang a bear bag. The carabiners are decent, the cord is strong, and the rock sack is super easy to use. Used this kit on two backpacking trips this past summer and fall (3-nights and a 2-nights, respectively) to hang my bag as well as a friend's just to see how it would do. --THE ROPE: The rope is easy to see at dusk (neon green and neon orange), which I appreciated, but it's really just your typical paracord. --THE BAG: The gray food bag itself is a tall, narrow, roll-top cylinder, so if I'm out for more than 3 nights or if I'm using with an Opsak (which will fit inside), it's a tight fit, but you don't have to use this food bag -- use whichever size/brand you prefer. Please note this is NOT an odor-proof or water-proof bag. If you hang your food and it rains, the contents will be soaked. --THE ROCKSOK: Typically, I just use a rock wrapped in a bandana to get my bear bang hung, and that's the method I've returned to -- saves a few ounces. It works as intended, it's just not necessary for me. My 9-year-old daughter likes it, though, and has used it to learn how to hang a bear bag. --THE 2-to-1 PULLEY SYSTEM THING: I really don't understand all the 2-to-1 pulley system stuff, either. I didn't find this any easier than any of the other hang kits/rope/carabiners I've used in the past. If you're fresh out of town and your food bag is full, it's gonna be heavy to lift and require a good bit of force. I didn't find this "method" any easier or harder than any other bear hang. Overall, if you're in need of an all-in-one bear bag kit, or getting something for a beginner, this'll do. It works as promised. But it's a bit overpriced for what it is and unnecessary for an experienced backpacker.

Great rock sack
I knew Selkirk was a good brand because they make the best pickleball paddles. The rock sack is worth the purchase. Once you figure out that the Caribbeaners and 550 cord can be replaced, the rock sack is what's the most important. I used it many times. I'm not sure the bag is waterproof but it got wet many times. I had no issues with my food inside. Would definitely recommend for beginners.

Easy to use, lightweight, made life easier on the trail
Some say this is an unnecessary piece of gear, but for less experienced people like me, this was perfect! Came with easy to follow instructions and we were quickly successful in using it every time we tried. It also worked to hang our water treatment bag when we couldn't find a low hanging tree branch. Definitely made life easier on the trail for us!

Good
Very handy but used an Osprey dry bag to hang as this bag was a little small for my Bear Vault

Handy and easy to use, but small
Took this camping and it was awesome. We loved the pulley system and having the weighted pouch helped with the whole set up. The bag weathered fine, however I found that it was way too small. Wish it was bigger.

Handy for beginners
Iโm new to backpacking, so having all of the pieces for a food hang in one little package gave me piece of mind and made it really easy for my husband and I to hang our food safely while in the backcountry. We purchased some odour-proof bags for our food and stored them using this kit and had no issues with any critters getting to our food.
