The cost per cubic foot of storage capacity when compared to a hard shell roof carrier is almost a no-brainer. So much more room compared to 13 cft for 5X the cost. Do the hard shell carriers look better? Yes. But if your goal is to free up as much space in your car as possible during vacations then this is perfect. No water infiltration if you put it on correctly and close it up, though I still put all luggage in large trash bags to be safe. I also liked the idea of being able to remove the bag easily once we reached our destination. Material seems heavy duty and water secure. Installing on the roof was easy, though it's helpful to have someone tall helping you if you have an extra hand. Pro tip: pre-pack the bag to make sure you know exactly how things are going to fit, then unpack it to put it on the roof. It makes packing it on the roof that much faster.
