Dodsworth in New York (A Dodsworth Book)

I bought one Dodsworth book. Then another. And then another. My kids kept asking for MORE DODSWORTH. It took less than a month for us to end up with the full Dodsworth series. I’ve even started trying to find additional books by this author because my kids (6 and 7) loved them so much. They’ve been on repeat and have encouraged so many cultural and geography questions. Would love to see more Dodsworth and they also are thankfully not painful to read as an adult - solid humor.

I recommend it." ~my son.We bought the book for a curriculum we were using and ended up searching out all the Dodsworth books we could find at local libraries. These are great for early readers and entertaining for adults as well. I love that they also introduce children to places around the world.

This series is great fun for you children to early elementary. My 6 year old loves to read them and my 9 year old still enjoys them for a quick family story. We have re-read several times and purchases as gifts, as well. Dodsworth adventures are always entertaining!

My daughter is a first grader who was a good reader in Kindergarten, but wasn't very interested in reading for pleasure. A friend had discovered these books at the library and recommended them for her so I ordered Dodsworth in New York for starters. My daughter loved it! I ordered London, Paris, Rome, and Tokyo in one fell swoop. All have arrived except Tokyo which will be shipped this week. Anyway, my daughter relished each adventure and has even re-read each book in order to giggle at her favorite parts! Dodsworth and Duck are simply mesmerizing and hilarious, and I highly recommend this series!

My six year old daughters review: "This was a great book. I thought the duck was really funny. I really liked how Dodsworth took the duck off the ferries wheel and the duck said "oh how do you do?" When Dodsworth was trying to get the duck the whole time! " She really wanted to have her own words on this review so there you have it.

My kids and I have loved Dodsworth for years. The dry sense of humor, the beautiful message to go out and live your best life (The Pink Refrigerator should be assigned reading in high schools and college), and the lovely intro to travel and other cultures make this series timeless.

Just read this to my 7 and 3 1/2 year old last night. This was such an entertaining story. The young one loved the pictures and being able to spot the duck in the images. My older one was thoroughly entertained by the story. Am wondering if he understood the underlying theme about changes in plans.... we'll see.

We received Dodsworth in Tokyo as a gift. Liked it so much I bought two other Dodsworth books (dodsworth in new york and dodsworth in rome). They did not disappoint. My 7yr old enjoys reading them.
