The Little Red Hen (Keepsake Stories)

This story has a simple moral. You reap the fruit of your efforts. It is straightforward, yet the story is entertaining. The illustrations are great and this book is a must have for all toddler libraries. The point is driven home by the repetition of "not I" by the various animals when they are asked by the hen to help her plant the wheat. This was one of my favorite books as a child and will be a favorite of my children too.

This is a timeless story that teaches the value of hard work. It is written in a way that even the youngest child can understand.

Just as I remember it when I was a child. We recently had a baby shower for my daughter and the invitation requested a favorite childhood story be given and signed in place of a card. She received a nice selection of older classic stories, as well as, several newer titles. It was a lovely idea and she now has a great start on a home library for our grandson!

I bought a few fairy tale books from this collection. They have just the right amount of words for preschoolers/kindergartners. I told some parts in my own words, but the kids LOVED these stories and really caught on. Must have this classic in your collection! This story, above the others had a great moral that the kids could learn - we have to work to get rewards!

I purchased this book because I enjoyed it going up and I read it to my children. Now I'm a grandma and decided to start reading to my grandchildren and they love it, what surprised me the most is the price of this used (NEW) book, it wasnt used at all and I was able to personalize this book with their names in it so now they smile saying read my book. this was one of many books I've purchased and love so much. I have recommended this to my children for home collections. even their cheap selves can afford this. Thank you soo much

Our kids today need to be exposed to the older stories and Fairy Tales. My grandson loves this book!

Love this book! Teaches kids they need to help out or work for what they want and nothing is free.

Myself and my 4 and 6 year old have read this every night since we received it. Love the story and the illustrations.

Lovely book. The characters are a little different than the last time I read this story. Here we have a dog, a pig and a cow answering with their "Not I."s rather than a cat, a pig, and a duck as I last had it. I'm not sure how the original goes, but this one is very nicely done. I plan to use it for an English (as second language) class. I think the children will enjoy looking at the illustrations as we discuss the story.

My 4Y old loved this story. After reading it twice in a row she told her father all about the lesson in the book. She then put it on her bedroom bookshelf for her nighttime reading rotation.
