National bestseller and fan favoriteโas seen on The Today Show ! This humorous look at 50 common North American dumb birds is a perfect gift for the birder and anti-birder alike. For those who have a disdain for birds, or for bird lovers with a sense of humor, this snarky illustrated handbook is equal parts profane, funny, andโlet's face itโtrue. Featuring common North American birds such as theย White-Breasted Butt Nuggetย and theย Goddamned Canada Gooseย (or White-Breasted Nuthatch and Canada Goose for the layperson), Matt Kracht identifies all the idiots in your backyard and details exactly why they suck with humorous yet angry ink drawings. With The Field Guide to Dumb Birds of North America , you won't need to wonder what all that racket is anymore! ENTERTAINING AND EDUCATIONAL: This uproarious guide to all things wings includes migratory maps, tips for birding, musings on the avian population, and lessons on the ethics of birdwatching. Plus, each entry is accompanied by facts about a bird's (annoying) call, its (dumb) migratory pattern, its (downright tacky) markings, and more. POPULAR AUTHOR: Matt Kracht is an amateur birder, writer, and illustrator who enjoys creating books that celebrate the humor inherent in life's absurdities. Based in Seattle, he enjoys gazing out the window at the beautiful waters of Puget Sound and making fun of birds. Other hilarious titles from Matt include The Field Guide to Dumb Birds of the Whole Stupid World , A Dumb Birds Field Guide to the Worst Birds Ever , The Big Dumb Bird Journal ,ย and OMFG, BEES! WELL REVIEWED: Critics recommend this laugh-out-loud funny spoof guide: "There are loads of books out there for bird lovers, but until now, nothing for those that love to hate birds. The Field Guide to Dumb Birds of North America fills the void, packed with snarky illustrations that chastise the flying animals in a funny, profane way."โ Uncrate "There are a lot of great bird field identification guides, but after a day afield with The Field Guide to Dumb Birds of North America , you will never look at birds or birdwatching the same again.... You need this book if you want to lighten up your birdwatching."โ Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette Perfect for: Birdwatching and nature enthusiasts People who think birds are creepy or annoying (and people who love birds but also enjoy a good laugh) Mother's Day and Father's Day gifts for bird-obsessed moms, dads, and grandparents Gift givers seeking a fun birthday, holiday, or retirement present Anyone looking for the ultimate coffee table book or bar-top conversation starter

A bird book with a funny twist
My wife bought this and loves it. She's always loved birds but since we've been in our condo now 21 years she feeds the birds every morning and we have been getting so many different varieties and species of birds so this book is a funny twist on common birds that they've renamed, so it's a fun book that I think I would recommend to others who are into birds. I think you get a good laugh

Pretty Good. Look out for the Language.
I was quite surprised with the high quality feel of the book. The content inside includes short and comical descriptions on the appearance, behavior, and the relationship the author holds to these birds. Sometimes you wish they were a tad-bit longer with more personal stories but they're allright overall. The art is very fun to look at and blends well with the fiery tone the author uses to describe the birds. There's a section at the back with info on making bird feeders and advice on recording birds with a camera.I would say this is definitely more geared towards young adults and not kids as the language used throughout could be inappropriate (constant F-bombs that, personally, don't bother me.)Don't expect this book to hold long descriptions on each bird. You could probably finish the whole thing in a day if you really tried.

Fun!
Both hilarious and educational, lots of great facts within. Great gift or cute addition to any bird lovers collection (assuming you have a decent sense of humor).

Absolutely Hilarious
This book is absolutely hilarious. I truly laughed out loud at almost every page. It's clear that the author is extremely knowledgeable about birds, but has taken a typical boring bird book and made is SO entertaining. I want to bring this with me to every dinner party for hours of entertainment.

Bought for a friend, had to buy another as I couldn't stop reading it!
First, this is a sarcastic book, and not meant to be taken seriously. I bought it for a fellow bird lover, but started to flip through it, ended up reading the darned thing (and laughing crazily) so I had to order another. One thing you should know, it is quite proface and expletive-laden. I typically do not care for vulgar humor which relies on curse words, but frankly, it's about birds, and it's just amusing! The drawings are pretty horrible, as they are meant to be, and even those help make it more amusing! Glad I got a copy for myself as it will always bring a grin to this bird lover's face.

A hilarious gift for true bird nerds
I love this book so much that I bought one for my dad as a gift and one for myself. We both love backyard birds and live rural, so we have quite the variety of tweeters on our property. This book just roasts a bunch on North American birds and is especially hilarious when you know how these birds behave and why they've been roasted by this author. I'm just it would be enjoyable and funny for someone who maybe isn't an experienced bird connoisseur. Highly recommend, the writing and illustrations are fantastic.

Hilarious and Educational
This book is an absolute gem for the bird lover (or bird hater). Seriously, get it and have a laugh. Or don't if you're easily offended, to which, this book is not for the pearl clutchers.
