Momoya Chili Oil with Fried Garlic Taberu Layu 3.88 Oz

delicious garlic forward chili oil - my favorite flavor and the oil itself seems to be of a higher quality than many other brands. It is very mild on the spice scale, which I don't mind, but just be aware if you're looking for a hot oil, this is not it, if you're looking for a rich flavor with a unique garlic crunch from the dehydrated garlic chips, this is it! Caution: many sellers carry this item, all I have bought from have good packaging, no leaks. I did just buy 2 bottles from UNHA'S ASIAN SNACK BOX in June 2026 that arrived only 2 weeks ahead of the 'best by' date so they are pushing old merchandise. It is fine and I will use it, but I don't appreciate this as oil doesn't last forever. Find one that is monitoring best by dates and sending fresh oil and stick with it, (this will be trial and error, or course) don't just take the first vendor Amazon might offer even if it's the lowest price.

The flavor in this chili oil is amazing. I generally prefer it to be spicier. (If this brand sells a spicier version, I’ve not seen it) But, I’ve tried several other brands, and the flavor just didn’t compare. The sesame oil adds a distinct umami that mixes well with the garlic, chili pepper, and other ingredients. To add to that, the garlic stays slightly crispy in the oil. So, I buy it and just add a little sriracha sauce. It ups the spiciness without compromising the flavor. Having said that, I use it without adding sriracha too, it just depends on what I’m using it for. Honestly, I could eat this right out of the jar with only a spoon.

Been on a roll and purchased about half dozen of these chilli crunch type products recently. Would say this is the best. Chili oil and garlic flavor with mild spice. Good enough to be the star of a dish not just an add on. Expensive for size but worth it. Will be ordering again.

The flavor is really good, and its also not spicy. I will have this on repeat. The only reason its not 5 stars is the price. $10 for less then 4oz is kind of high

Taberu Layu (any brand) made in Japan is very versatile and tasty. Can be added on rice, salad, ramen, pasta, etc. However, check the glass, not the sticker! Seller "UNHA'S ASIAN SNACK BOX" (Plogmag Agency, Inc in California) put a Sep 9, 2026 sticker on the wrap, but the official jar stamp is July 28, 2026. They are manually extending the food safety date by 43 days! Be careful as customers are "blind" to this until it arrives.
