Review the PRODUCTS, people!
I didn't realize the review section was a stage for customers to spew hate towards whatever people they decide are deserving. I ran into a hater of Texas (Dallas) persons while looking at reviews for earbuds! I don't care who you don't like, I wanted a product NOT people review. If you don't like your area, move back into the hole you came from. How TRASHY of you!Beautiful things, updated dailySearchyour accountJVC HAFX8B Headphone, Riptidz, In-EarpleasedByrobynon March 23, 2013Verified PurchaseI am equally awed and horrified at the disgusting array of body noises I am forced to endure at my office job in Dallas. I am not from Texas - is it a cultural thing? No idea. But it's gross and disturbing. I need to block out the cacaphony or I'll go mad. So I bought these ear buds. They insert gently into the ear in an interesting angle that seems carefully designed for maximum snugness. There is a specific left bud and right bud. They don't block out all the noise on their own, but the moment you plug into a sound source you are utterly in your own world. You might hear a loud siren, but conversation, coughing, hooting, harumphing, fog-horn nose blowing, etc., is mercifully defeated. The ear buds are made of a very soft rubber-like material that cleans easily and doesn't hurt sensitive ears. It seems to be a standard plug that goes straight into my computer or an MP3 device. I'm not a technophile. This is as simple as it gets. There are no volume controls on the buds - you need to use the controls on your media player. So plug it in and enjoy some peace. Oh yes - the sound quality is quite nice.5 people found this helpfulHelpfulNot Helpful← PreviousNext →TOP OF PAGESearch in All DepartmentsCart (0)Your OrdersGift Cards & RegistryYour AccountBrowsing History1-Click SettingsHelpAmazon.comAmy's Amazon.comYour ListsFind a GiftYour Subscribe & SaveSell on AmazonCustomer ServiceAmazon.com Full SiteEnglish United StatesNot Amy?Sign OutConditions of UsePrivacy NoticeInterest-Based Ads© 1996-2017, Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates

4 mixed stars: great sound, bad everything else...
I have mixed feelings about these. My "standard" cheap earphones are the Panasonic RPHJE120s, but since these had such good reviews, I figured I'd give them a shot. They sounded rather "sharp-edged" the first time I tried them, but after burning them in just overnight, I think the sound quality is great, maybe even just a hair better than the RPHJE120s, which I find excellent, though what I'm perceiving may just be the the higher sensitivity of these (101 vs the RPHJE120's 96 dB/mW).The sound quality is, in fact, good enough for me to give them 4-stars overall despite the fact that I actually strongly dislike everything else about them. I think the build quality is poor: the connections at the the plug and buds are much weaker than on the RPHJE120s and while I haven't actually measured either set with a caliper, the wires feel thinner than the RPHJE120's (though it might just be that the insulation is softer.) More importantly, though, I find them incredibly hard to manipulate. I don't have "fat fingers" and am, if anything, slightly more dexterous than average, but the smooth, round barrels of the buds make them surprisingly difficult both to get them into and out of my ears. It's not that they fit any more tightly than other earbuds, it's just annoyingly difficult to get them there at all. I happen to also dislike the straight plug, but I knew about that when I bought them, so don't really hold that against them...

Best cheap earbuds.. let me know if you find any better than these... I have tried.
Well, the sound is great AND they have a 11mm driver unit so "true" low bass performance is possible. The "new" gummy version is not as good sounding, I don't know why that is. JVC HAFX8 for the win. I have tried many 10-35 dollar buds that do not have the range and clarity. Sent them all back one by one. The con is the cord...while sturdy, it takes about 3 months to relax and get get tangle free. Plus it would be nice if the cord was 1 foot longer. PRO TIP: buy a cheap color to save even more money. I got the purple for under $5.00. These are a back up to my originals that still work great but I use them every day and at some point they should break? I mean science and whatnot, right? Hope this helps.

Hard to beat in this price point.
I just ordered a bunch of inexpensive "audiophile" buds because my daughters keep breaking the ones that I give them. These are surprisingly exactly what I expected from JVC. They are comfortable and seal well unlike the HAFX40(see my other review) which burn my ear canals and poke a sharp piece of plastic in the back of my ear. They have a gold plug(yes, it does make a significant difference). The sound stage is perfect for me. The have excellent, crispy highs, audible mids(unlike the Philips SHE3590, and the JVC HAFX 101), and balanced, tight lows. I didn't even burn these in and they sound great. The cord is a bit shorter, but that means it will not catch on the bottom of my cargo side pockets every time I lean over(you know what I'm saying). They are not the most awesome earbuds I have ever heard, but at the rate that I go through them with four daughters, they sound better than anything in the sub thirty price point. If you are "All About That Bass," check out the SHE3590 or the JVC HAFX 101 which will both rattle the fillings out of your teeth, I prefer lots of treble, some mids, and very tight, punchy bass.

Wouldn't buy again and I don't understand why this got so many positive reviews
I bought this based on the very positive reviews and the price tag. Still, this isn't good value for the money: the wire looks identical to those in disposable airplane headphones, very wrinkly and short and overall the quality is disappointing. The jack has connection issues with my phone. Arguably my phone isn't new and the female connector might be a bit aged but I don't have this problem with other headphones. The sound quality, once the jack is properly engaged is decent, or at least it is what you would expect from this type of headphones. On the positive side, the headphones come with a pair of spare rubber plugs for the ears of different sizes. Finally, the plastic packaging is literally impossible to open without some strong scissors or a sharp knife.

Little ear canals
These seem to do the job. I have difficulty finding comfortable, secure earpieces as I have quite small ear canals and don't want to waste money on expensive headsets that don't fit. Only longer-term use than I've given them, will let me know how good they are.Biggest problem was getting into the sealed packaging!!

Disappointment
These headphones are not in Hi-Fi class, not even close. I tested them with Sony phone, without and with equalizer. Middle tones are far too dominating. I rather would buy JBL budget earbuds. I am disappointed, I thought JVC could do better. I use these mostly as I listen radio talk show, but for music, these are not something I like.
