The Dollhouse You Dream Of
I bought this dollhouse for my daughter's fifth birthday (which is tomorrow), and I know she is going to love it. In looking online at options, this one was her favorite because of the features/design and also mine because it seemed like the best quality and value. Thus, we saved up for it. Yes, the price tag is high, but you get what you pay for--in this case, it's quality. The house looks really nice, and it’s sturdy. It comes with enough furniture/accessories to put some in each room, although you can buy add-ons to make it more complete/full. For example, in my photos, we have the add-on kids’ bedroom and dining room sets from Hape, as well as a set of kitchen accessories (bottles, boxes, dishes) from Haba, which are mostly in the fridge and cabinets, so not very visible in photos. The wardrobe in the parents’ room does have useable space, and we have the Haba doll that comes with multiple outfits, so maybe we will store her clothes in there. The topmost room is empty right now, but that’s not because there was nothing to go there. We’re going to put the add-on baby’s room from Hape there—just waiting for it to arrive in the mail. We also plan to put the Haba laundry room set in the bathroom, the Haba bunny hutch on either the balcony or the space beside the living room, and the Haba kitty in the kids’ room. By the way, Hape makes a lovely set of three pets (dog, cat, and bunny); it’s just that my daughter already has the Haba ones, and they fit well. Without the add-ons, I think I would have done the “double living room” (as shown in the manufacturer’s photos) and either and truly left the topmost room empty, as though a second balcony. Under the kitchen is some empty space, and I’ve heard that you can park the Hape car there. The Haba vet car also fits, as we verified. I also think this space will be useful for storing dolls, laid flat. We don’t have any of the Hape dolls (again, yet—who knows?!), but we have many of the Haba Little Friends Dolls, hence purchasing this house. As with the pets mentioned above, Hape’s dolls (the wooden ones shown in the manufacturer’s photos) are also perfect for this house; we just happened to have the Haba ones already. I absolutely appreciate the ability to mix/match the two lines! Assembly was not difficult. If you're not used to assembling wooden furniture, etc., it might not be easy or necessarily intuitive. However, if you look at the instructions beforehand and think it through, it's no problem. From the time I cut open the box to the time I placed the last piece of furniture, it took about an hour. That includes unwrapped (items come bubble/tissue wrapped), studying the instructions, inventorying the pieces, and so on. I'm not very "handy," so I took my time, to ensure I wouldn't make a fatal mistake. Someone else could probably assemble it faster than I did, especially with a helper. My top pieces of advice for assembly are: 1) study the instructions first, 2) make sure you have all the pieces and lay them out orderly, 3) line up all the screws in the holes before tightening any on that side (because then you won't have the problem of screws not fitting, due to misaligned holes), and 4) take the time you need to work comfortably and confidently. I cannot imagine that my daughter will not absolutely love this house, given all the anticipation and how absolutely wonderful it is. If it does disappoint her, I will update to add her comments. I also hope that I can get some better photos once the gift is actually given. Right now, it’s wedged in a corner of the basement, so I apologize if the photos are not clear enough to be helpful. In all, this is the dollhouse of dreams. Any little girl or boy would love it and get many years of enjoyment from it. It’s also definitely large enough and has enough access points that two children could easily play with it together. I’m so glad we purchased this, and I definitely recommend it. Thank you, Hape!

Great gender neutral doll house
My three year old son requested a "purple house" for Christmas. After much searching, I came across this house. I like the fun colors and one of the panels was purple, so I was able to sell it to the 3 year old as a "colors house". (If you are looking for a house for a boy...don't give up! There are several houses that I found that are all wood or wood and primary colors and seem very nice. I just needed these colors because the request to Santa was for purple.) This house is very attractive. And while it is in no way "girly" as most doll houses are, I can see both girls and boys enjoying this product. I was pleased with the amount of furniture. I had considered buying the children's room and the dining furniture too. I'm glad I waited; the furniture provided is plenty for my son for now. Of course the need of a 3.5 year old boy will be different than an older, more detail oriented girl. I did purchase the Hape family and the Hape pets, both of which my son has thoroughly enjoyed and he's only had it 3 days! I didn't really understand the "all seasons" aspect of the house until we got it. He has really enjoyed changing the roof panels from "green" to "snow". He can do that without help. The stairs are movable, and he, at 3.5, is able to move and reattach the stairs without assistance. His grandparents assembled the house and hid it for us until Christmas Eve. I can't personally speak to assembly, but I did ask my mother-in-law after reading reviews about various problems. She said it was a relatively easy assembly, but she felt like the fact that two of them worked together to put it together helped with lining up the floors, a problem many seem to have. Also, they realized the need to refrain from tightening completely to ensure everything is aligned. The only problem we have had is that the bed frame for the master bedroom was missing. I haven't tried to get it replaced yet. That may prove difficult. Again, the 3 year old boy hasn't even noticed. He lies the people on the "mattress" that is supposed to go on the bed which we just placed on the floor with the other bedroom furniture. The house seems sturdy and durable. I feel as though the house will outlast my son's interest; I can't say that for all of his toys. I would definitely recommend this product to friends! ***update 1/6/13*** - I contacted Hape via their website and received the missing furniture piece. A representative emailed within minutes of my request and the bed was received in a matter of days. - I'm not adjusting my 5 star rating; I still think it's a great house. However, after spending some time in play with my son, I do agree with another reviewer that there should be more stairs.

So glad we chose Hape!
I have to mention that this is an incredible house for children on the spectrum! The shapes and colors help to keep their attention. The open floor plan makes it easier to move things around, so there is less frustration. We have had this dollhouse for about a year and a half, it has been played with constantly and has held up extremely well. Fortunately, we had no problem putting it together, but the screws can require occasional tightening. My older kids had other dollhouses through the years, but this one far surpasses those in function and is cuter, in my opinion. I decided upon Hape while searching for an affordable, gender neutral, durable, wood playset, for my preschooler with autism. It is amazing to see him actually play with this house. I feel that it is educational, with all of the fun accessories, bright colors, window shapes and unusual roof style. It's nice that the stairs and patio can be rearranged, and the hanging light fixture is a big hit. The open design allows imaginative, creative play from all angles (which can be so much fun to watch)! Some people have mentioned "missing" staircases. The staircases are simply mobile and can be moved as needed, or easily removed, during play. If there were more than two in the house, it would be far too crowded. Many action figures and toys have also inhabited the dollhouse, to the dismay of the Hape family. I eventually added more furniture sets, pets and the patio set. The quality and detail in all of the sets are wonderful, nothing has been overlooked. I have since purchased other Hape toys, we love the colors, the playsets are fun and they hold up so well! UPDATE: September 2016: Having owned this dollhouse for years, I can vouch for it's durability! I'm keeping this one for my grandkids. I have noticed that there are imitations on the market now, by different companies. The Hape wallpaper and designs are cuter and the furniture looks much more detailed, so I still know that we made the right choice!

Quality Gender Neutral Playhouse
This is a high quality playhouse that is perfect for pretend play. It is rather hard to find a gender neutral playhouse but this one fits the bill. Easy to assemble and two years on from purchase it is still in good shape with somewhat regular play. A good fit for smaller dolls or little people figurines.

A great and sturdy doll house for all kinds of dolls!
My 2 year old daughter LOVED this for her bday last year, and it’s held up GREAT. A big thing I was worried about was finding dolls to fit it that weren’t the same brand as the house. We got peg dolls from target, fisher price little people, and even some random figures that all fit great in the house and on the furnature. This dollhouse is so sturdy! My toddlers are climbers and I’m amazed how well it’s held up against them sometimes climbing on it (without permission of course LOL) it’s big and open so my 2 littles can play with it together but not be all in each others “bubble”. its shape makes it sturdy so it doesn’t fall over with play, but it’s also light enough I can easily move it to clean inside or behind it! Took me about a hour to build BUT a good 20 mins of that I was super gluing pieces into the rooms so we didn’t have lots of choking hazards and/or missing and scattered pieces. Instructions to build it were easy to follow, even for me who isn’t really good at that kind of thing. Regular super glue has stuck great to the material and they haven’t been able to rip off pieces. Awesome open ended toy and well worth the money!

Good Value for the Price
We got this dollhouse on sale which it seems to do on regular intervals. Compared to other gender neutral dollhouses this one is an amazing dollhouse for the price. I don't mind seeing it sitting in my livingroom one bit. It's very easy for the kids to play with: four little kids can all play at once without getting in each other's way. And it's durable. In several months of daily play, it seems like it will hold up for a good long time. We were extremely expressed with the amount of furniture and accessories that come with the house - even a rubber duckie! I didn't think the roof change would be kid friendly but my 3 year old can do it without help. I get lots of positive comments from friends that come and play and have a couple Hape products on my kids' Christmas list because we're very happy with this one. My two year old tends to take furniture and dolls out of the house, play next to it and then put them back and change it up unless she is playing with other kids. My kids: 2 & 3-1/2. Kids who come and play 1-1/2 to 6-1/2. Kids yonger than 18 months don't show any interest. We don't have friends older than 6-1/2 so I don't know where the upper limit is. This dollhouse will definitely be "cool" as long as kids will play dollhouse for, though. Pros: Durable, Easy to Set Up, Lots of Furnitire & Accessories, pleasant to look at for both adults & children. Cons: This really should include a flight of stairs for each level. My 3 year old has picked up on this quirk during play and will make his people jump between the level without the stairs. Add another flight of stairs and this is a solid five star product. I considered making it 5 stars even with this feature missing. Not specifically about this product so I didn't include it in my star rating: The Hape people that are sold seperately seem to be moderately durable. The hair is showing wear after a few months and I suspect they won't stand as well after some time. They are good but not great. I wish we had looked into other peoples instead of just settling on the ones that went with the house. Bottom line: If you want a gender neutral dollhouse, get this house. You won't be sorry.

Very high quality house, very few imperfections should last for many years
So it ships in a brown box outside the actual box, which probably would deter thievery, so thats nice. The entire thing took me a little less than an hour to assemble, with my son messing around with all the parts, soooo might have taken 45 mins. Its just a lot of screws you need to carefully get into the wooden beams. I used my favorite multi speed drill with the appropriate allen key bit, just kept it on low, then snugged everything up with the actual included allen wrench, to ensure I don't blow the thing apart with more power(grunt grunt) than needed(*DISCLAIMER*don't use a drill on stuff like this unless the drill is super familiar-like part of your hand-bad/destructive things can happen). Easy to follow instructions, everything makes sense. All the cabinets and toilet open, theres great accessories for every room- everything except the bathtub is wooden. I kinda concentrated stuff in 5 of the spaces, but its not my house so I'm sure my kids will do what makes sense to them. Entire thing can be lifted with one hand from the roof peak timber, though if bringing up a set of stairs be careful stuff doesn't slide out, especially under your feet(there's a fun forensic files episode: "dollhouse kills clumsy man on stairs"). One of the pegs on the roof that holds the roof panels on was put in slightly deeper than the other 3 from the factory, but it's not a real problem. The range hood above the oven is very slightly crooked, but its a toy, kids wont care. I bought a set of people for it, so theres more play options , but they are coming tomorrow.

DON'T WORRY!! FANTASTIC PRODUCT!!
SOOO happy that I chose Hape. I was considering the Melissa and Doug, but based off of the surprisingly high number of negative reviews, I decided to go with the Hape (which had not as many negative reviews). As soon as I got it today, I quickly wanted to open it and put it together so I did not make the mistake of so many others. Give myself a week before her party to find any problems and come up with plan B. NOT NECESSARY with my purchase. Disclaimer: All of my parts were included and in one piece without damage. I can understand negative reviews for that, but not for difficulty building it. My 7 year old and I were able to complete it in less than 45 minutes. Super helpful trick: I took the hex wrench that was included, cut off the short end and made a drill bit to be used in my DeWalt 18v drill/driver. Cut building time in half at least. Set it on torque setting 1 and did not go all the way on any of my screws until the very end. Once all screws were in and aligned, I set the torque to 3 and finished drilling each screw in. As another reviewer noted, Hape is German company, but the outside box that it came in AND the actual toy box were clearly marked "Made in China". See pics. below. Construction is solid. The floors are pretty slim, but sturdy enough. Pretty stiff, about 1/4" thick. Could they have made it 1/2", probably, but it will be fine as long as they done decide to pull it out and use it as karate practice. With a 7 year old son (who helped build - but is also a lego genius) and a to be 3 year old daughter, I have put together my fair share of toys. I also consider myself to be a little bit of a handyman. Construction was straight forward, make sure when you are putting in the 12 cross beams that you make sure the slots all line up and you will be fine. If you got all the pieces and they were not broken, construction is a snap, unless you are one of the less incompetent other buyers. SUPER CUTE, can't wait for my daughter to open it!!

Harika kesinlikle tavsiye ederim
Çok başarılı ve sağlam. Kurulumu kolay.

Fantastic doll house
Assembly was was quick and easy. We love the bright colours and simplicity of this doll house. It looks great in our living room. It’s also a great size! It comes with lots of accessories, but a few very small pieces we had to put away because of baby. My daughter loves that she can change the roof for different seasons. She loves to use her peppa pig characters in this house. You can also buy additional accessories (baby furniture, kid furniture, people etc). This set does not come with any people. A quality toy I can see both of my girls getting use of for years to come.
