Carissa doesnโt know who she is anymore. She and her husband, Richard, are recent empty nesters; Richard is spending more and more time at work counseling his volatile clients and less time at home with his wife; his clients are starting to show up at the house at night causing Carissa to feel scared in her own home; and to top it all off, Carissaโs boss informs her that sheโs been โlet go.โ She wonders where God is in all of this since He doesnโt seem to be around to protect her โ and sheโs already stopped trusting her husband. In the midst of her world tilting off center, sheโs offered time at a hideaway on Maui. Hiding seems like the best way to respond to lifeโs overload, and the thought of being alone sounds like just the right balm to soothe her wounded heart. The languid Hawaiian sun, white beaches, and warm-hearted people bring respite, but meeting handsome Kai causes Carissa to toy with the idea of being romantically involved with him. Then, under a Maui moon, she looks to God for guidance and hope for the future. Thatโs when she discovers His hand still is on her life, and that love is closer than she ever realized. Review: Hawaiian fun - I love Robins books and had really wanted this book. I finally got it on the kindle and read it in 2 days. I really loved the story. Having been to Hawaii in January and having a day trip to Maui it made the book all the better. Some of the areas that are mentioned I went to or near and could picture where Carissa was. The story is well written with the issues Carissa and Richard are having then being retrenched and needing time out. Carissa heads for Maui and things don't happen as she expected from the drive from the airport, to the cottage shes staying in to the people she meets. I love how different experiences helped her to re-evaluated part of her life. What I love how Carissa came to decisions and realisations through some of the experiences on the Island. We also hear about some of the beauty of the Island with the Volcano, Waterfalls, and beaches. There are comments Robin makes in the book about the beauty of the place being almost to hard to believe. I fully understood what she meant as I have had the same feeling. Wonderful read. Review: Wonderful, Soul-searching Book - This book is about a woman nearing middle age who finds her world falling apart. Her marriage is in a rut, she loses her job, and faces a few fears. Before Carissa comes apart mentally and emotionally she decides to come apart by getting away. Carissa is offered a cottage in Hawaii to vacation in, so jumps at the chance. While in Maui, Carissa has to face her problems, but makes new friends. God meets Carissa there and slowly takes her a part bit by bit utntil she realizes that she must change in her attitudes, marriage and in her relationship with God. I loved this book. Even though alot of the subject matter didn't pertain to me because I'm single, I still came away from the book with something to think on. Robin Jones Gunn books are always like this. No matter if I'm reading one of her teen books or one of her adult novels, I always come away smiling, sometimes crying for joy, but ALWAYS feeling closer to God. One thing I would like to say is that if you are like me and read and own every book by Robin Jones Gunn than you might want to be careful about letting your children under sixteen read this book. There are a couple of adult themes in this book that may not be appropriate for children and younger teens.

Under a Maui Moon
I loved Robin Jones Gunn's Sisterchick series. That is why I went in search of other books written by her. Although this one involves a little bit of depth into what a real marriage may encounter, it still was overall an easy read with a good story line.

Fantastic!!! Best i have read in a long time.
Many thanks to Robin for a wonderful read. Got it yesterday and finished today, could not put it down. It was especially interesting for me because my husband and I spent 3 weeks on Maui last Oct. Robin totally captures the feel of the island and I love the history bits that she worked into the story. My husband and I have visited the HI islands several times and like Robin, we really love the Aloha there. The description of how Carissa discovered more about herself and recommits her life to God left me very emotional. Even thou I know that the characters are fictional, they were very real to me through Robins writings. Her descriptions of some of the sights brought wonderful memories back of when we were there. This should be a must read for any woman having trouble in her marriage or finding herself drawing away from Ke Akua. Looking forward to reading more of Robin's books.

I love this book!
This book is a bit different-I enjoyed reading about the ups and downs in a lifelong marriage relationship. The Hawaiian hymns & the English hymns were perfect! I sang, smiled and shared a few! Thanks RJG

Renewed Love is the greatest gift
Carissa was at a point in her life where she was beginning to be afraid of her own shadow. Her husband, a counselor who specialized in menโs sexual addictions, seemed more concerned about his patients and their needs than in her needs. She felt neglected. This is a story that most couples have experienced during their commitments in one way or another. She flirted with he idea of having an affair, which is completely out of character for her. But the ending was the greatest and I will leave that detail to the reader. I am not saying that it was a happy ending...or an unhappy ending. I will leave that for you to find out.

I read this in 12 hours as I was hooked from the moment I picked it up- so if you can cope without doing the housework for 24 hours it is a must.

Great Book
My favorite author. What a wonderful book. I love how she ties so many characters together even if they aren't part of a series she's written!
