Business By The Book: Complete Guide of Biblical Principles for the Workplace

This is my favorite books on business, as Larry had so much wisdom on how to do business that was all taken right out of the Bible! It is great to see the Bible references throughout the book for each facet of business, and he gives tons of actual real life stories and examples for each that you can really relate with! This book really helps shape your entire perspective on business so that you are making decisions the rest of your life based on "The Book", God's word the Bible! This is by far my most recommended book!

This is an excellent look into what biblically based business practices SHOULD look like. (Hint: they don't look anything like what you see when you work for a publicly traded company.) I have my doubts that all the stories mentioned are of real people and companies, but that doesn't detract from the lessons taught. And many of them are definitely real. I wish there was more information for people who are not yet at the point where they are capable of running their own business; there are a lot of books about how to keep your head down and be a good obedient employee, and this book is perfect for someone with the talent and resources to run a business and employ others. I was looking for a Christian perspective on how to get from here to there, and I will still be looking. But this book has earned its 5 stars because there is still so much I can use (particularly in relation to dealing with these strange creatures who God made and called human beings, without whom business would not exist).

Good book to add to self help in growing a business

Business by the book throws light on what it really means to conduct business by the book using simple and easy to relate with examples of regular people. There are many things indeed that we let fly by under guise of 'business as usual' yet we label ourselves as Christian. Read it slowly and prayerfully. It contains timeless wisdom.

As a Christian who is preparing to enter the business world with a small business of my own, this book has been a very good read. It is a good illustration how we can be salt and light to a secular world. I'd recommend that any Christian either currently working in the business level (as management, ownership, or employee--it doesn't matter) or planning to enter the business world to read this book.

I already have the book, and was impressed with the down to earth guidance. Burkett always references the Word of God accurately. I bought the tapes because I can listen to them while driving, making my car a "university on wheels." Listening to Larry's admonitions is different from reading it. Processing it from 2 different view points is so helpful. I definitely give it a thumb's up for someone wanting to build a business that will last for the long haul. Just like gravity works whether we want it to or not, the principles set up by our Creator (like gravity) also work when they are followed. Burkett guides the listener through every facet of a business and its operations. It's up to each of us to make the choices that will propel us forward successfully, and the author lays those choices visible in a straight forward, down to earth manner. The rest is up to us to follow through.

This book has been a real eye-opener to me. In his basic application of Biblical wisdom to daily work life, Larry Burkett lays out a pattern that will help anyone from a janitor to a CEO, from a pastor or any other leader, to honor God on their workplace. It is interesting that although the book was published in 1998, the principles it spells out are exactly what caused the recent economic depression. Avoiding the common trap of a "health/wealth" social gospel, "Business by the Book" should help the lazy be motivated, and those in bondage to their work to find release in Christ. An excellent read.

Many people have a desire to be in business for themselves and to succeed. To be the success that God wants you to be takes a commitment to the biblical principles that are taught in the bible and apply them to daily business conduct. Larry's book is one of the best guides to apply biblical principle to successful business development that I am aware of. To be all that God wants you to be as a business person is what Larry's book teaches and explains. Every Christian business person should have a copy of this book and conduct their business EVERY day accordingly. Gator Man

I've read many books on how to run a business from a Christian perspective. This one is the best, by far. You don't have to be a Christian to appreciate the advice and business principles explained in this book. Even for Christians, it will be challenging but worth it.

This book is incredible for anyone wanting to lead a business according to biblical principles. Simple and informative, and so encouraging. Loved it.

I have not finished reading it yet but so far I have been greatly encouraged. This book was recommended to me by a friend and I have to say I was sceptical at first but went with it and have not regretted the investment. It is wonderful to have some testimony of how we can marry the Bible with the workplace and where our benchmarks lie as believers. It is also stunning to see the Kingdom being advanced just by how we behave in the work environment. I have been impacted positively and I would recommend this to both employees and employers alike. It is helpful too in its examples of practical application of the principles. A well written, easy to read treasure.

Great book, and a real eye opener to the modern work place......... it was a driver to quitting my job.

This was a great book for my business . Learned lots of valuable do's and don'ts from a Christian perspective.
