Headsets such as the Sony Gold headsets have a built in mic and a 4 conductor wire is needed for full functionality. **Q: Can i plug it into my mic and well it work** A: A headphone cable like this with three rings will work with any jack, and is backwards compatible to jacks that previously took a cable with two rings. It's if you use a cable with two rings with a jack with three rings that you may lose some functionality. **Q: Can this be made into coils? (Wound into circles then heated)** A: Due to the higher quality of the cable portion itself, it would be somewhat resistant to heating. Gets a bit staticy if you twist it around, thin cable but would be perfect for my headphones anyways if it worked. I feel like I misread the info for the product, or the product is being shown as something it's not. EDIT: I have gotten them to work, I didn't have any hardware problems but software problems/technical difficulties. Mic and stereo works so there isn't much bad about the thing altogether.
