Battery is way too small for this type of tool.
I am pretty sure if you could look up 12v and Hammer Drill in the dictionary, you would find "small battery" in the definition.I bought this unit new, almost half off at my local hardware store, and used it on a couple of thick concrete stepping stones to see how well it performed. After a full charge, the battery was gone after the third 3-inch deep hole. So the battery lasted about 10 minutes, needing 30 minutes to recharge. Do we see a problem here? This size, weight, and unit are nice. But, I don't think it was engineered for more than a few small holes at a time. For this price, you could buy many other Hammer Drills which run bigger batteries. I would almost suggest just getting a corded unit for this type of tool.

tool ok, the free batteries process is horrible or impossible to get.
At the home improvement store, I was talked into buying the Rockwell drill and impact drill because of the free lifetime batteries. but now, that my batteries do not work, there is no place to be able to exchange them, and the phone number on the Rockwell website and the actual website are useless. Is almost like it is a fake website or company for that matter.DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND, if you do and later on you have problems with it, you will pull your own hair trying to get a human to talk to you when you call their customer service department. If you don't believe me, just go to their website, Rockwell.com, and try to get some support. Also, call the phone number you'll find on their website and you will see that is a complete joke, any option you choose will tell you that they are doing everything possible to answer all the customer calls and hands you up. I guess these Rockwell drills are going to the trash, I'm tired of buying batteries that do not hold the charge at all.

Wow, power from such a small package.
I bought it when it was not even available here at Amazon. Needed it to drill some holes in concrete. Used it with a regular drill bit and the result was dismal and very tiring. Bought some proper carbide bits (DeWALT) and the work was a breeze. It was like drilling through butter, smooth and easy. The trigger controlled power/torque really works well as a hammerdrill. I drilled several holes and there is still plenty of juice left. I was surprised at the power of the 12v battery. The package comes with 2 batteries, so it is really nice.It comes with a regular drill adapter for regular drilling needs. The speed/torque control via the power trigger is not fine enough. You will likely strip screws. I guess it will still be fine if you intend to use it to drill pilot holes in wood, drywall, and such. But use a proper drill with dialed torque control for screws.I am pretty happy with this little monster. Just make sure to hold on tight when hammerdrilling. It packs quite a kick. Also, did I mention that it uses SDS drill bits for rotary-hammer action? SDS bits are far superior in this aspect.

Batteries suck!!!!!
Purchased this drill about 18 months ago and both batteries have failed(will not recharge). If you do buy this drill immediately fill out warranty card because the batteries are going to die!!! Warranty card must be returned within 90 days with proof of purchase to get lifetime battery replacement.

Possibly my best tool purchase ever!
With about 50 years of tool-buying experience behind me ("home handyman," not professional), I've owned a lot of tools. I don't think I've ever been so pleased with a purchase before. I purchased this drill locally at a moderately good sale price at the time, and have found the battery life to be exceptional. Though I would not have used it to drill 2" anchor holes in my concrete slab for a safe (borrowed a heavy duty professional hammer drill for that), I have used this one for anchoring things in our brick wall (downspouts, flag holder, etc.), and some some relatively light concrete drilling. It's done exceptionally well. Drilling? Driving screws? Hammer drill applications? Not a problem now in almost two years of ownership.Add the spare battery and the fact that Rockwell offers free battery replacement for life, and you can't go wrong! I love this tool!Note: 5-star reviews are relatively rare for us. We don't want to contribute to "rating inflation" on Amazon, so only the best of the best get five stars. This easily has earned all five!
