Best Mascara in the whole lot of them!!!
I don’t care what anyone else thinks or says about this mascara. If you have lashes, it will make them SO MUCH LONGER ITS UNREAL!!! I have purchased this so many times that I can’t even tell you how many tubes I have been through. It’s as good Lancôme, as good as any higher dollar mascara. It doesn’t run, flake, smudge OR give you raccoon eyes at the end of the day. Give it a try, yes the wand is a little wonky but you’ll get used to it eventually. It’s just a hand down great everyday and a great dress up one. I think it gorgeous to work with!!!

Lengthens and separates lashes. No mess.
Lengthens, separates lashes. Isn’t messy like some other mascaras I’ve tried. Rich black color. Recommend.

I hated this mascara when I first got it
Bear in mind that I haven't worn mascara in quite a while (lockdown/work from home etc.) so was a little rusty. My previous go-to mascara was Blinc, the kind that actually does form tubes on your eyelashes and that is a GREAT mascara, especially for sensitive eyes or if you wear contacts or have any other issues. I just could no longer justify the cost ($26). I'm mainly starting up using mascara again for my own sense of self-confidence. There's just something about the feel of wearing mascara (along with lipstick) that makes one feel different, more professional, more "on". I have long and plentiful lashes and I prefer a thinner more liquid textured mascara rather than something volumizing. I just want a coat of mascara that will make my lashes more visible, not too much thicker. I've also discovered something has happened to my lashes since the last time I was wearing mascara on a regular basis. The lashes on my right eye, toward the right corner have started to bend in the middle toward the left! That's the side I sleep on. Weird. I've never noticed this happening before. When I first used this mascara, as I said, I hated it. Thick, clumpy, gave me that spidery eye look that I don't like, but then I noticed something. If I gave it a little time to set or settle, this changed and mostly these issues resolved. I like the wand as I hate mascaras with brushes the size of a mac truck because I always seem to poke myself in the eye with them and have a lot of difficulty getting to each individual lash, especially my lower lashes. The formula itself is a little thick for my liking but I can work with it. I also found that storing it upright helped a lot with clumping as there is more uniform amount product on the wand and can get complete coverage with one or two passing over the lashes. I can also apply to my bent lashes and then hold them in the position that I want them to be until it dries and this seems to help more often than not. I posted the question about recommendations for a good remover. Seems like Avon's cream remover is the most recommended. I prefer an oil free remover so my method now is to wash may face with Dove soap (bar, not liquid), get it nice and lathery and try to get as much of it off as I can, then use Almay oil free with a Q-tip to get anything I missed. I also use baby shampoo and wash cloth on my eyelash area when in the shower as I have dry eye syndrome and it is important to keep the pores there free of clogs. I know using mascara kind of defeats the purpose, but there you have it. I may change things up and go back to Blinc mascara in the future if my dry eyes get worse but this is where I am right now.

My New Go To Mascara
I’d previously been a fan of L’Oreal Telesopic Mascara but this Carbon Black Mascara is my new favourite. I was already used to the super thin wand and bristleless brush which does such a great job at separating and coating each lash. I use 2 coats and it lasts all day. Highly recommended for short sparse lashes like mine.

Makes lashes look nice but SMUDGES…
This mascara goes on easily, and it makes my lashes look nice; however, two hours in, and I look like I have two black eyes due to it smudging like crazy. I’ve never had a mascara smudge to this extent. To make matters worse, once it is all under my eyes, it is extremely difficult to get off when I am away from home. It doesn’t simply wipe off. It’s too bad this happens because it would be a great mascara otherwise. But as is, I will not purchase this mascara again.

QUIT SPENDING $26 ON LANCOME DEFINICILS!
UPDATE AS OF 2/23/17: I am STILL using this stuff and have gotten several friends and family members to switch, including my sister who has incredibly sensitive eyes! This stuff is amazing! ***ORIGINAL REVIEW FROM 2014*** I must admit I've been a bit high maintenance regarding my mascara in the past. I've tried drugstore brands here and there, only to be disappointed that I look like a crack whore with spidery eyelashes after two swipes of the wand. Not quite the look I'm going for. For the past 15 years, I've been looking for the perfect mascara that will give me DEFINED, BEAUTIFUL, VOLUMINOUS lashes. I did find several that I liked, but the problem was they were all $25-35. It gets quite expensive after a while! Lancome Definicils was one of my go-to favorite mascaras (also have tried many variations of Lancome Hypnose, Dior Extase, Dior Blackout, YSL, Estee Lauder, MUFE, Benefit, etc). After running out of my last tube and needing another mascara on a whim, I did EXTENSIVE research to figure out what mascaras were most popular and what those people liked/did not like about each of those mascaras. I probably did research for a few hours a week over two months. Ridiculous, I know, but I'm super research-oriented and do this on most of my purchases to get a great cost/benefit analysis to make sure the product will meet my needs. I found a problem withe the reviews. Drugstore mascaras that had good reviews (4+ out of 5 stars) were rated by people who WANTED a natural mascara look that just enhances what you already have. I wanted volume, length, and whatever, so essentially, those "highly rated" drug store mascaras DID NOT WORK for me at all. I have blue eyes, fair complexion, freckles, and medium brown hair, and need all the help I can get to emphasize my eyes. I really like the L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara (in Carbon Black!) because of a few things: 1) THE WAND! You can really get in there and grab whatever lashes you want to with this wand. Do another coat and you can easily get extra volume and definition. Don't apply too many coats or else you may need to get a spooly to separate your lashes a bit. 2) THE FORMULA! I've been wearing this stuff for about a year and it does not flake, smear, or give me raccoon eyes. I have hooded lids and don't have any issues with this mascara at all. It's fantastic, I promise! 3) IT LASTS A WHILE! I don't think this mascara dries out very quickly, so you can use it for more than a month or two without it drying out too badly. Much longer shelf life than the more expensive brands. 4) THE PRICE! Think about this: if you're paying $30 (with tax, let's assume) for a more expensive mascara, and let's say you can get by with using each tube for two months, you're spending $180 on mascara for the year. Compare that price to this tube... let's say you get this mascara for about $8 with tax and use each tube for two months, that's $48 for the year. FORTY-EIGHT DOLLARS. That's a savings of $132. Or, another way to look at this: one year of expensive mascara can buy you about 3.75 years of this L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara! That's an awesome cost/benefit analysis if you tell me. Hope this review helped you! Try it out, I really think you'll like it. I won't switch back.

Beautiful thick lashes
Creates thick lashes without the clumps that you get with some mascaras. I've just started to use a primer with my mascara and this works beautifully with it.

FANTASTIC! Telescopic Length, NO Clumps, Lifts & Separates. No smudging.
Best Mascara I have tried in a long time. Lashes are lengthened dramatically. No clumps because the brush separates each and every lash. Does not smudge when you apply and wear, even if you accidentally rub your eyes. Be careful when placing the brush back into the container because it is tight. I love this mascara. I'm sure that you will too!
