Some of the other reviewers referenced the provided directions as a waste. I would say you need a basic understanding of electronics to interpret but they are pretty straight forward. I purchased the doorbell unit, the upgraded black with gold plated door button and several door/window sensors. In all I purchased enough parts for 2 door bells and 4 door/window notifications. The product description provided by Honeywell does not tell you for every window or door that you wish to be notified is opened, you must purchase one converter AND one set of wired door contacts. This adds up fast, very fast. In any case, to the set up and performance of the unit. For now I have just set up the 2 doorbells and 1 door open notifier and the set up was fairly easy. From opening the packaging to setting up the door chimes, to mounting the (what I call) door notifier took me about an hour and a half and I played around with the unit allot before installing. Mainly checking out the door chimes but also reprogramming the provided push button and the additional black and gold one I purchased. What I thought was inventive and progressive with the unit is the door open notifier has its own notification aside from the provided door chimes and it sounds like a door open notifier. I think a couple of the door chimes are a bit hokey. I think they were running out of ideas. The unit comes with a volume knob which was an excellent idea on there part as this thing is loud with the volume cranked. The light that is installed in the unit is functional, bright and eye catching and in my opinion is a very useful feature for the hearing impaired. It flashes like a strobe light when the door bell is rung. Of the 6 programmable notifiers, each one has its own display with picture or the option of placing numbers in place of the pictures so when a doorbell is rung or door is opened you know visually what door bell is being rung and so forth. Once again another nice feature for the hearing impaired. I will say if you mount the unit on a wall where a doorbell is usually mounted (high up) the picture feature will not be very useful. With that being said the unit is not ugly and is about the size of a book AND stands on it own quite well. So not mounting it on a wall and just setting it somewhere is acceptable in my opinion. If you do decide to mount it on a wall, hardware is provided and is very simple. If you can hang a picture even somewhat straight, you can hang this unit. In conclusion Honeywell is synonymous with security (at least in my neck of the woods) and the doorbell buttons have the Honeywell name placed right on them which can't hurt in possibly conveying to a potential intruder your home is fully wired with a Honeywell Security system. In conclusion to my conclusion as I almost forgot the most important point. How is the signal? I believe it to be very good. Now I have not tested nor do I plan to test it to the 450ft working range so I cannot speak to this. What I will say is my furthest door is 40 plus feet away from the doorbell itself and the buttons signal must travel through 2 insulated 2x6 walls plus 2 more interior walls and it works perfectly. No delay to speak of. No repeat button pushing AND the buttons have a signal light on them so the user knows they have pushed the button. I highly recommend this unit. I have these units both at home and at my work and can highly, highly recommend them! The first unit I bought for the house and with a second remote button. Our home has a gate that is rarely used, but if it is closed I wanted a way for someone to let us know they were there but most remotes will not work this far away. The prior unit had a hard time going 20 feet from the front door to where the portable unit was, so I was suspect when I bought the Honeywell, especially because the second remote button would be mounted on a metal post about 70 feet away from the main unit. But everything worked wonderfully! Both buttons work 100% of the time and you can configure each with a different ring so you know where the person is. This unit also has a lot of alternative chime sounds and is capable of being very loud, if you need or want this. I needed to replace a wired doorbell at my shop. Some rodent chewed through wiring that was buried in a wall where I couldn't get at it easily, so I decided to go wireless. But since my building is all metal and the button would have to be mounted directly to it, the signal would have to go through / around a lot of metal to work and I wasn't sure that it would. Also, I wanted to mount the main unit far enough into the shop that it would be heard both in the shop and in the offices. This meant the signal not only had to go through metal walls, but through interior walls (with metal studs) and be about 150 feet apart. Amazingly, the unit works perfectly! No problem going through / around the metal building / studs and working with the main unit 150 feet away. It is also loud enough that you can hear it throughout the shop (about 7000 sq ft) and you can easily hear it still inside the offices (actually, the walls blunt the volume perfectly so it is not too loud!). Since we are often cutting metal with power saws in the shop, the fact that the unit also flashes a bright blue LED when activated is an added visual cue and benefit. Having used other wireless units (you know the brands that the big box home improvement stores sell), I can strongly say that you shouldn't waste your time to 'save money' by buying them! Buy this Honeywell unit (or its variation - there are a couple of other versions available). It works through walls, metal and at a very good range far better than any other unit I have tried!

I recently build a new workshop and needed a doorbell extender so I wouldn't miss people at the front door of the house while I was out there. Fortunately, I came across the Honeywell Wireless Extender and was able to pair it with this door chime to come up with an excellent solution. The range on this setup is great and the door chime itself has lots of great features. I actually ended up pairing the wireless extender to the doorbell input and then paired the button that came with this chime to the pager input. That gives my wife a way to easily page me when she needs me to come into the house. Here are the things I like about this wireless door chime: 1) The door chime includes a wall mount that lets me leave it mounted to the wall - yet the chime easily lifts off if I want to move it around. 2) As I already mentioned, the range is excellent. 3) I love the flashing light alert. I often have loud tools running that prevent me from hearing anything - so the flashing light really gets my attention. It's also easy to disable the light if you don't like it (I can easily imagine that it would be irritating in some situations). 4) If you don't want to use the 4 'C' batteries, it does have a power input for a 6V/600mA AC Adapter . That will obviously limit the portability - but it also eliminates the need for batteries if you're going to leave it mounted in one place. 5) It allows 6 wireless inputs, although I'm currently only using 2. I may hook it up to my home phones just so we can hear them ringing when we're out in the yard. 6) Each of the 6 inputs can be programmed independently to have a different chime. 7) The volume is easily adjustable, and the loudest setting is easilly high enough. It's funny how many devices like this have a 'loud' setting that can't even be heard outside the room. In my case, I have it adjusted to the mid volume level. If I could change one thing about this door chime, it would be to have the power adapter included - or have the option to have it plug directly into an outlet. But, I also understand that's not the common use case so I'm not taking off a star. Overall, I highly recommend this if you're looking for either a wireless doorbell or just a wireless doorbell extender to work with your existing chime.

My situation - I have an older 2-story 3500sqft home with thick plaster walls and ceilings, and the plaster is backed by metal mesh and metal cross pieces. Wireless devices of all types fail to penetrate very far into the home. I have four entry points that needed doorbell push buttons, and a need for both an upstairs and downstairs "bell" to work with all of them. I had tried several other products and none would work reliably. Based on reviews, i purchased two Honeywell 330A doorbells and two extra pushes. It has only been installed two days, but so far so good - all four pushes are able to activate both the upstairs and downstairs doorbells at the same time. I keep going back and pushing the buttons because I almost can't believe I found a product that works. Programming was not that difficult and I did not find the directions lacking, as some have complained. There are minor things that could be better, but nothing significant. The pushes that come in the package are an off-white color that did not show up on my similar colored door frames, so I added some reflective tape so visitors easily see them. Some have complained that the mounting holes are not pre-drilled on the pushes - if you use the two-sided tape (not recommended for permanent installs) you will be glad the holes are not pre-drilled, so I side with Honeywell on that. I am happy with the volume. It is a little strange that the speaker faces the wall but the mounting bracket holds the doorbell a bit off the wall, so the sound seems to reflect well (especially with my plaster walls). You will need to buy four C-cell batteries for each doorbell. It does have an input for a 6VDC power supply, but I was happy to stick with batteries. What remains to be seen is whether the farthest pushes become unreliable in reaching both doorbells once the button batteries start getting weaker. If I get 6+ months before having to change any push batteries, I will consider that satisfactory but I will add an update if that is not the case.

I purchased four of these wireless doorbells because after spending months looking online for a wireless doorbell that has a built-in strobe light I have not found a better product on the market. I am profoundly deaf and live alone and normally at home I don't wear my hearing aids since I only wear them if I'm going to go out or have some company come over that I am talking to and need to hear a conversation for they bother me wearing them for long periods of time and that being said I could not hear a doorbell ring to save my life so I was looking for a doorbell that had a bright strobe light for when I watch television I wear headphones so I put one of these doorbells underneath my TV in the entertainment consul near my Blu-ray player so when I watch TV the doorbell is within direct view and I also have one in each of my bedrooms and it was not difficult programming each one to work on the same doorbell button near my front door for it only took about 30 seconds to do. Even with my hearing loss the volume for the doorbell can be set to be really loud but what is most important to me is the bright blue strobe light that I have set to flash for you can set it in 3 different configurations either just to have the sound of the doorbell or just to have it flash or to have the doorbell sound and to have it flash at the same time and I have it set to the 2nd option to where it will ring and then directly afterwards the blue strobe light will flash several times so when I am watching TV with my headphones on and I don't hear the doorbell that blue strobe light which is extremely bright will immediately get my attention. I don't know how long the batteries last in them but these few have an optional AC adapter that you can plug into the unit but I have not done that yet and the four C batteries that are used with it I installed when I purchased my house a year ago and they are still working for I have not had to change the batteries yet. So goes without saying I am very happy with this purchase.

I purchased one of these sets to try it out. It works wonderfully. We have the push (the doorbell button) at our front door. The chime (the thing that makes the Ding Dong noise) can support a few different chime noises and several different devices; window opening detectors, additional push (for the back door maybe?) and other stuff. The chime has little icons that light up to show you what triggered the noise. You can set different chime noises for different things. I like that you can also set the chime to strobe a light for a few seconds when someone presses the push. This is nice for when you are watching a show on television that has the same ding dong noise that you are using! When you see the flashing lights coming from your chime, you know it's your door! I came back and purchased two more sets of push/chimes. I put an additional chime in my son's room/office. He does telephone support. He is not allowed to have any kind of noise that the customer can hear, so we turned the volume down almost all the way on his chime. We also turned on the strobe so he can see when someone presses the push at the front door. In my computer lab, it is very noisy. I am usually running air conditioning and playing music or running tools. I put a chime in there and turned it up all the way. When someone presses the push at the front door, I can usually hear it. If I have headphones on and do not hear it, I can see the strobe flashing. I cannot express just how convenient this is for me. It is ideal! It was easy to setup one push (door bell button) to multiple chimes. Just put all of the chimes into 'pairing mode', press the push button and voila' ! You're done! I looked through all of the reviews here on Amazon prior to purchasing my first push/chime set. I didn't see where anyone was using more than one chime with the same push. Well, I am doing it very successfully and it was very easy to setup. So, if you want a chime on the first floor with an additional one or more on the second floor, in the garage or out back by the pool, you are in luck! This one will allow you to have as many chimes as you like all setup to respond to the same buttons/window opening detectors, etc.

Extremely easy-to-follow directions; extremely easy to install the batteries (even if you don't know how to use a screwdriver). You can set each push button to a different or the same chime sound. We put the number icons (that come with the unit) in place of the picture icons and numbered each push button; we then put a legend (# = place/person) on a label inside the front panel to easily identify the user/space when the number lights up with the chime. We had looked at call pendants (not satisfactory for our requirements) and had worn out room monitors (which were not 100% satisfactory to begin with) before coming up with this solution. Electric (A/C) plug-in units won't work if the power is out, so we were only looking for battery-operated wireless "something". This is truly the answer for anyone who may need assistance and for those who are caring for each other, an elderly parent, or another person in their home. This is the 2nd wireless door chime I bought. The first one was NOT a Honeywell and it never worked right. Needless to say, I returned it. So, I did extensive research before purchasing this one. And I am SO impressed - it is great! The choice of 6 chimes is nice. And I love the ability to set different sounds for different doors. The volume is pretty loud (I am slightly hearing impaired so I have it turned up all the way. It could be a bit louder for me...but I think it's fine for most people). As mentioned by other reviewers, it would be nice if it came with 2 doorbells (instead of 1) but I didn't mind spending the extra $9.99 for another doorbell since this chime/1 doorbell set was only $38. Great price! We use it for the front and side doors. Just to increase the volume a bit more, it might help if the speaker was on the front, instead of in the back (and slightly muted when you mount the chimes on the wall). But it's still pretty loud compared to most. And the flashing light is really a plus!! It's SO bright, it reflects off the walls & ceiling. The only negative is, although it allows you to connect other "systems" to it, the instructions do not explain how to do that at all or what type of systems and where to get them. I also tried the Honeywell website and still could not figure out how they work (like the "phone" system). But that's not really what I bought this for...I just needed a good, loud wireless doorbell system that works. And it does! So, it's not really a negative since it does exactly what I purchased it for. Anyway, this doorbell works so well, I have already recommended it to a friend.

The volume is adjustable and a good variety of chimes to choose from..........very user friendly as well. We like the fact that it is portable & that we can take it with us down to the edge of our property and still hear if we have guests arriving. Great product.

Great bell. I bought a wireless bell before this one but it would not work because of my metal front door. This bell rings, and is loud enough I can hear from anywhere in my house and if I have the music blaring, I can see the flashing lights. And it was cheaper than the other bell I bought. Over a year, no problems.

I purchased this for my place of work where we have opening security protocols. We had the issue of the doorbell buttons being broken or stolen so the fact that this unit has replaceable buttons is a great benefit as they are only ~$10 to replace. The range is good and allows us to take the chime anywhere in the building and still be properly notified.

Exactly as advertised...very easy to install.. don't forget the 4 C batteries you are going to need for the unit. Button comes with its own battery. Overall a very good choice for a residential front door. *** March 18th 2017 Still going strong after the winter, still happy with it.
