I have used this bay ear protection for my son's since they were about 3 months old and, particularly for my more sensitive son, they have made events like fireworks etc fun rather than just about bearable. It work the same way as lab or workmens ear defenders - they insulate the ear from noise. To do this they have to have a very snug fit to the ear, held tight to the ear. It are NOT noise cancelling headphones so don't expect them to fit softly to the ear or to replace noise with white-noise.
