A tiny treasure of cupcake recipes.
Need a sweet little book to tuck away into a gift basket? Or perhaps something to keep on your shelf that doesn't take up much space but is packed with recipes? Know anyone who isn't a baking enthusiast but enjoy some baking? This is that treasure for them. From the delicious mind of Peggy Porschen comes this mini baking book full of recipes that will make tasty cupcake treats which won't take much time. And for those without much confidence in their baking skills, this is small and simply enough to give them a little boost!"Cipcakes" is basically a 6" x 6" book of cupcake batters that range from simple to more complex flavors, but which do not require a largely stocked kitchen. It contains 64 pages of batters and frostings to accompany each other, and each page has the recipe on one side and a photo on the other. (Being from Europe, she does use the metric system/weights for the ingredients; I personally would encourage those who are serious about baking, to invest in a scale and weigh out your ingredients as this makes for a much more accurate way of either cooking or baking. There is a huge difference between weighing out flour compared to just a "cup" of flour. Also, she gives both Celsisu/Farenheit oven temperatures.) After the Introduction by Peggy, there is a page with "Baking HInts and Tips" and from there, 56 pages of yummy batters that range from basic to fancy, such as..................Chocolate HeavenSticky ToffeeRed VelvetChocolate Raspberry HeartStrawberry and ChampagneLemon and RaspberryBlack ForestVanilla ChiffonStrawberries and CreamBanoffeePecan PieCarrot and WalnutEton Mess (think berries)Apple StrudelGiandujaSalted CaramelTiramisuToffee AppleMulled WIneLemon MeringueSugar PlumSpiced PumpkinCosmo (this used Cointreau liqueur)Pink MarshmallowGingerbreadThen come the frostings:Basic Cream Cheese Frosting with variationsMascarpone FrostingChocolate GanacheMeringue FrostingPlain Syrup with flavoringsThese are all cupcakes, but the way in which they are decorated and presented, makes each one special and very pretty. So her ability to show you, through the way that a piece of fruit or decoration is placed, makes them special, even if it doesn't take you much time in making them. Enjoy the experience!

amazing!
I dont know why people complaint about the size of this book. I find that the content is more important than the size and I have seen beautiful big books with poor content and very expensive for nothing, really. The recipes in this book probably does not suit Americans palate but boy! I made one of the recipes (strawberry champagne) and my mind was blown away! utterly delicious! my husband is American and guess what, he went for a second cupcake! that does not happen unless the dessert is amazing (he does not have a sweet tooth btw). I am extremely pleased with the complexity of the flavors they make you feel you are eating a very refine luxurious elegant dessert. Small book with big amazing content. Looking forward to make all the recipes!

Cute little cookbook, big disappointment!
First off let me say the book is absolutely adorable! The pictures are cute & really make you want to get up & get a batch started. Therein lies the problem. The measurements & temperature settings are not the ones you find in American cookbooks. So if you want to make one of the recipes, you have to figure out how to convert the recipe. Too much trouble. Really wish it gave measurements we use here. Keeping the book, 1 day I might sit down & calculate the measurements. If I do, then writing the corresponding measurements will mar the "cuteness" of the book.

Cupcakes
This is a delightful little book of cupcake recipes from Peggy Porschen. The ingredients list for each type of cupcake is clear, the recipes themselves are written in a straightforward, easy to follow style and there is a useful colour photograph of what each variety of cupcake should look like. I’ve had a go at the Red Velvet cupcake so far and the cupcakes tasted delicious (although they didn’t end up looking exactly like the ones in the picture!) – I can’t wait to pick the next recipe to try out.

Highly recommended in its genre for any cookbook collection needing some whimsy inspiration - and good recipes
Her cake cookbooks are beautiful. But I found them overwhelming as an average baker to begin with in order to try out her recipes. And the decorations looked daunting - although they were specific in directions. Therefore, this small souvenir cookbook on her cupcakes was a welcomed present and great place to start. I love her recipes - as they use unsalted butter and not oil(except for the carrot and walnut one). Also, there are flavor combinations for adults (Cosmo, Tiramisu, Mulled wine) as well as children. I also like her side comments by each cupcake photo. She nudges towards using the best quality ingredients possible. But it is not a requirement.

Best Cupcake Recipe I've Got!!!
I love baking and I've got a collection of Cook books, especially ones to do with baking... But out of all my cupcake recipes I have the ones featured in this book are my favourites! All the different flavours like marshmallow cupcakes and red velvet cupcakes, and you make really easy syrups to stop the sponge going dry. It is small, but it's worth it. Trust me! (PS. The icing in here is nice, it has a taste similar to custard, however I tend to use the sponge from the vanilla cupcake recipe in this book and the buttercream recipe from 'Jamie Oliver's Food Tube - Cupcake Jemma') :3

Lovely little cupcake book
Beautiful little book with some lovely and unusual cupcake recipes. Have only tried the Eton Mess cupcake so far but it was very yummy. Can't wait to try some of the other recipes.

Ok but tiny book.
Huge fan of Peggy's but she's milking it a bit here. Fine for beginners but waste of money if you know what you're doing.

Three Stars
Nothing special about these cupcakes. Any recipe will do, not worth buying this book just to make them.
