Black and Clear Glass Chess Set

I actually make glass chess tables. But one thing that is impossible to make, and especially for little money is chess pieces. The pieces in this set are really nice, and compliment any chess table well. They have a nice weight to them. They are hollow on the underneath. The glass board that comes with the set is nice. It's very thin, but it fits nice in a book case if you need somewhere to store it. The only part of the set that is not well done in the felt stickers on the bottom of the pieces. When mine arrived, more than half of the felt pieces were crooked, exposing the glass underneath. Half of the pieces, the felt was actually ripped. I ended up having to remove all of the felt stickers. You can tell when the pieces are packaged by the manufacturer - the crooked felt gets ripped when being stuffed into the styrofoam box insert. However - my trick is to just remove the felt and apply a ring of white glue around the bottom of each piece. This is what I do for all my chess sets. it dries invisible, and does not scuff glass.For the money - I am not complaining. Pieces are worth it!

We purchased this for our son as a gift for Christmas, he was kind of blown away when he opened it. It is very nice, just seems a little fragile, but there isn't anything wrong with that, as it won't be used by anyone but adults. He has always wanted a "Nice Chess Set" and now he has one. He was very happy with it.

This is a great chess set... I looked at about 50 others out there before deciding on this. My house is pretty modern/contemporary in a retro way, and this fits in perfectly. Some of the pieces aren't 100% perfect, but you won't notice unless you're looking really, really close. I'm 100% satisfied... it's a great addition to the decor in my home and I don't feel like I need to put it away, ever.

Update: The pieces are still holding together (the top of the king got chipped off when it fell on hardwood floor), not sure if the new price of $33 is worth it for the original quality, thoughThe pieces are sturdy, but you can easily see the lines from their molding, and the felt pieces on the bottom were peeling off easily/not on it. I just took some furniture protectors and put them on the bottom and they worked well.The board is simple and glass, what more can I say? For $20 you get what you pay for, no more, no less.

Let me start off by saying that this chess board and chess pieces is great. But the downside is that most likely, it will come either scratched or even completely shattered. That's what happened to me. Not just one time, but twice in a row. The third time I reordered it was when it finally came all in one piece and with no damage. But even with all that mess I had to go through, the people at Amazon were great to talk to and were completely understanding and gave me no problems whatsoever. Bottom line: good product, but you take the chance on it coming damaged because it is so fragile.

Seem to be a bit durable.Aesthetic black & clear glass look is beautiful.Black glass finish looks almost flawless.It's $20 freakin bucks!Fast delivery.Cons:Not 100% perfect in terms of coloration & glass build:- black colored squares (some spots have unnoticeable specs missing)- Few clear pieces have small bubbles inside.My black knight's nose was broken! All other pieces in tact.Felt feet don't seem like they'll stay on very long. I'll probably remove it and line each piece's bottom with Elmers Glue.Overall, if you're looking specifically for a black & clear glass chess set, buy this one.

The chess board is a transparent Glass (not so obvious in the product picture). The size of the pieces is around 2". which makes the pieces not small but also not large. the aesthetic view of this glass chess alone is worth the 20$. you don`t have to put the pieces and the board back to the box, since it gives a nice touch to the room. but if you want to put it back to the box you could easily do that, as the box have places for each chess piece and you cover it with the filling thingy on top of it and you put the board on it,and another filling thingy on the board, then put it back inside it`s box. it`s convenient as to avoid forgetting any piece when you finish playing because you`ll immediately notice in the box that there is an empty slot which means you forgot a piece (sometimes after playing a piece fall down under the couch or a table) so it`s nice to know that you`ll probably wont get any pieces lost so easily after playing.

THERE IS NOT A CASE FOR THE GAME OR GAME PEICES SO I WOULDN'T GET MY HOPES UP FOR THT... BUT NO WORRIES!!! ITS STILL BY FAR THE BEST LOOKING CHESS GAME I'VE SEEN FOR THE PRICE THAT IT IS. I'M FROM UTAH AND I LOVE CHESS SO I'VE SEEN A LOT OF DIFFERENT CHESS SETS. ALL IN ALL GREAT FIND AND WILL MAKE AN AMAZING GIFT. :P
