Always buy a the manual.
The Haynes manuals are the standard for DIY warriors. For those who aren't affraid to work on their own vehicle, but are not professionals, the Haynes manual is perfect. You get complete disassembly & reassembly instructions with pictures and diagrams for everything you'll encounter. Always read the entire section before starting a disassembly. Gather all parts and tools as well. You'll know very quickly if the task is something you can handle or if it's better done by a pro.

If you own a z31, just buy it.
I just got my hands on a 88 z31 n/a manual for my first project car. I’m taking this car apart down to the chassis. YouTube definitely helps a lot, but this book will go into every little detail there is about this car. A must have if you own a z31. This one is the cheapest I could find on Amazon. One negative I will say is I wish the pictures were better quality but it’ll get the job done.

Book + Youtube = successful car repair
While Youtube and the internet have made books like these almost obsolete, there is still value in having this in your garage. Pair it with a few videos and you should be able to repair almost anything on your car. I didn't give 4 stars because the pictures are B&W and not very clear sometimes.

GOOD BOOK!
..nothing beats learning something new or just good info, than YOUTUBE! But as an integral companion to YOUTUBE, this book is excellent! It has charts, quantities and measurements and torque specs that are invaluable.

Z31 OWNERS NEED THIS
If you own a Z...just buy one of these. Yes, you can find almost everything online, articles, videos, on & on. But trust me, you'll use this Yeah, I'm a sucker for nostalgia & I like the feel of a real manual in my hand, but really, that's only a tiny bit of it. The Z31 has many odd parts & pieces not found in cars of it's vintage, & Nissan likes to do things differently. Having all this info on your car with pictures can save loads of time.
