I could have left the shoulders tacked (see alterations I did below in the original post), but I took this out in an attempt to rid her of the scratchy ruffles. I don't see how the other girls are dealing with it but rubbed against my own face, the itchiness is intolerable. I took a seam ripper and removed the entire top layer of ruffle. Now, my baby can wear the dress and was all smiles. I still say from my experience, order the dress in the size your child wears. If they are chubby, make sure the size they wear is the first number. For instance, an average sized 6 year old would do well in a 5/6, but if chubby or tall, I'd get the 6/7. My tall 6 year old could stand to even go down to a 5/6, because the 6/7 is still a little too loose but is not a deal breaker. She's a dream in the dress.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Dress seems true to size. I have a 4 year old that wears size 5 because she is tall. I am currently buying all of her clothing in a size 6 for the upcoming school year (that for her, starts in August). I bought this dress in a size 6/7. In retrospect, this particular style, a size 4/5 would have been a perfect fit, with enough room to grow. Had I known, I would have gotten the smaller size. The 6/7 that I purchased is big on her, but with slight TEMPORARY alterations, she looks good in it. I tie the bow tight around the waist, added an extra crinoline underneath to really poof it out to disguise the extra room and tacked the shoulders up with invisible thread, which raises the dress a few inches to the appropriate length and forces the shoulder frills to stand taller and frame her face. Looks very pretty, reminiscent of a lacey, ruffled, high-neck Victorian collar.As she grows, I can take the tacking out to drop the hem back down and lose the crinoline underneath. This dress will last twice as long and because I buy most of her dresses in a certain cut, will serve as tunic length tops to pair with dressy leggings. Oh, yes. I am the QUEEN of S-T-R-E-T-C-H-I-N-G a wardrobe. By the time my baby grows out of this, it will have seen at least 3 years wear before we have to give it away. I do the same thing with shoes, buying them a whole size too big and cutting down a single thick and extra thick insole to put in them. They add comfort to the shoe and take up enough room so that my baby can wear them comfortably without them sliding off her feet. As she grows, I take out the insoles one by one until she doesn't need them anymore. In the Winter, I adjust the extra insoles accordingly since she wears thick, wool socks.BACK TO THE DRESS: Aside from the cheesy buckle, this dress is a winner. I like the colors that are painted on the buckle, but the dress has so many ruffles that it is not necessary. Perhaps rhinestones or crystals on the buckle would have been better. Still, it's a cute dress and the buckle doesn't ruin it.I have been eyeballing this line of clothing for a while and because my daughter is attending a graduation and prom as a send-off to the 'big kids school' from her daycare for all the kids entering pre-school or kindergarten in the 2015-2016 school year, I decided to order this dress.I am pleased and plan to order more pieces from this line. If the quality and fit are as consistent as this dress, I will be a happy customer for years to come and Richie House will become my go to for special occasion dresses. I like the style and flair of this clothing line. We were going to a Princess Tea Party and I am so happy I came across this brand. My 10 year old daughter has this oneΒ  Richie House Girls' Pink Layered Dress with Rosette and Pearl Accents RH0918-A-7/8-FBA Β so when my older daughter ended up babysitting I purchased this one for the little girl she was bringing with us. I went with the larger size (Example: My 10 year old wears size 7 so I went with 7/8 instead of 6/7, and the girl my daughter had with her was size 3 so I bought a 3/4 in this brand instead of a 2/3) They were a little wide but tying it in back made them fit better. I wanted the longer length so that helped my decision as well (a 2/3 would have fit the shoulders better but I would not have liked the length. There were tons of compliments on both dresses. This one is better suited for a smaller girl ( got it for a 2 year old). My 10 year old would have looked too babyish so the one I bought was perfect for her. There were a ton of compliments on both dresses from Richi House. The only change I made was to the other dress adding a tulle shawl that I pinned with the removable flower pin (also why I chose this one for the smaller girl didn't want to have to make another shawl, and honestly the little girl would not have kept it on. There were a couple of loose strings but you can cut that off pretty easily (never pull thread).Side note- the photo's where the dresses look shiny/transparent in some customer photos are not true to what these look like. Those photos used flash. The best photos of these dresses are taken outside with natural light. Those have the most accurate representation of the color. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Tacky Buckle, but fun dress. *by A***D on Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2015* There are a few things that could have made this dress better. The buckle on the front of the dress is tacky it looks like it has gems on it and I didn't expect it to look very good at the price but it contains no gems it is painted and poorly, honestly it would look better if they just removed it I think it is an unnecessary embellishment. If this dress was being purchased for a wedding or other formal event I would probably remove it from the dress. The other thing is the band on the waist it is tacked in place but because of how full the bottom of the dress is it doesn't line up perfectly along were the bodice meets the skirt it would look a million times better if they had sewn it into the waist or once again just leave it off and it would have looked just fine. Over all this dress is fun and extremely inexpensive and made my six year old happy for her birthday. I purchased this dress for no special event just something fancy for my daughter to wear because what little girl doesn't want to dress up for fun. I will purchase more dresses from this company as I do feel the construction of the dress is suitable for everyday/play use and the price is great. If it had been for a wedding event it would need a little more done with it to get it up to par.
