Let Down??
Was this CD box set a let down?? Well, for the price, no, indeed. I paid used @ about $22. so, for 4 discs, it is an excellent price (even for the new price)! NOw this set of Roger Corman flicks is notorious for being the worst films ever made. The only real one I was looking forward to is GAssssssss. I haver tried to find this film for years. It was basically a dated hippie romp. At least it could have been a little more serious, the setting was post-apocolyptic. Of the others, I really have seen (bits & pieces, wholly) Mama, trip, and X. the others are new to me. I am a fan of bad cinema (and 1970's nudity ) and this set doesn't let down the Tarintinoesque fan. As a package i have a HUGE beef. Why are the DVDs doublesided???!!!! Now you can protect the DVDs with much less certainty. And why is, on most DVDs with such WEAK SOUND!!! You have to max the volume on my TV , for even to even make out the dialogue!!!!!!! The cheap DVDs are super-loud. Y is that????!!!!

There's some real duds in this
set! But there's a couple that are decent, and one that good! Bucket Of Blood is fun and Premature Burial & X are pretty good! The others a cross between terrible and fair! RP

How can you not love Bloody Mama?
I had been holding out for an individual copy of "Bloody Mama" because it is one of my favorites but since I have been looking so long and this is the only way I have been able to locate it I gave in. It was worth it and I did enjoy "Bucket of Blood" again. "The Trip" dates in my opinion and I couldn't get into G-A-S. I will watch "Wild Angels" again. I'll just give a pass to "Wild Racers". "Premature Burial" is not really my cup of tea. The cast, the camp & the quality of "Bloody Mama" were worth the price of th whole package.

If you like Cormans films---
This is a great set for roger corman era fans of drive in schlock. Bloody Mama(as seen on the cover)I had been hunting for since I first saw it in the early seventies, is a real treat. Gasss is also a pop-culture treasure of the era. These two films alone make it worth the purchase. But only if your a Roger Corman fan, those new to Cormans films I would reccommend Death Race 2000, Candy Stripe Nurses, or Eat my Dust, first.

Roger Corman Collection (Bloody Mama / A Bucket of Blood / The Trip...
This is a fairly well-made and well-acted film that is rather entertaining; it's about Ma Barker's gang during the 1930s with some decent action and dialog. Young Robert De Nero also stars.

A Cherry Picking of Corman's Best
This collection is a bargain and a half where you get some of his best films (if not THE best) for a very reasonable price. So toss away your old bootleg VHS tapes of his movies and buy this for your collection, fellow Corman fans.

Some of the best Corman titles many unavailable in the UK.
This is a Region 1 boxset from North American on MGM. The set contains 8 titles on 4 double-sided DVDs, many of them are not available in the UK. Titles are The Wild Angels, Bloody Mama, Premature Burial, The Young Racers, A Bucket of Blood, The Trip, X:The Man With the X-Ray Eyes, and Gas-s-s-s. In the UK a similar looking boxset was released but only has 3 (different) titles.Image quality is excellent on all the transfers and The Trip comes with a bunch of DVD extras that you dont get on the UK version, plus the colours look much more vivid here.A quick run-down of the titles:-The Wild Angels, the original hard hitting biker movie with Peter Fonda pre Easy Rider.-X:The Man With The X-Ray Eyes, a doctor develops some eye drops that gives him superhuman vision and the unforseen consequences.-Young Riders, grand prix car racing in the 60's, thrilling race footage.-Bloody Mama, Shelley Winters as Ma Barker and her 4 sons including Robert de Nero. Typical devil may care attitude of Corman with a title card stating "Any resemblance to real life characters is entirely intentional"-A Bucket of Blood, tongue in cheek riff on beatniks and artists, quite funny dialogue. Black and White.-Gas-s-s-s, scientists release a gas that has the unfortunate effect of killing off everyone over the age of 25. Meant to be a comedy but hasnt aged too well.-The Trip, legendary LSD film with Peter Fonda. Available as a separate title in the UK.-The Premeture Burial, from Poe's story. Available as a separate title in the UK.I dont know why Roger Corman is badly served in the UK, when he's in the Directors chair his films are always worth a look. Although he is noted for his cheapness, all of his films look like they should have cost at least 10 times their actual spending. The stories are well thought out and properly researched and have intelligent scripts and good actors.I bought this copy on import but it cost less than £18 so I didnt have any customs charges to pay, so thats just about £2.50 a film, a bargain.Other Corman titles I would recommend (that are released in the UK) include The St. Valentines Day Massacre, The Masque of the Red Death, and The Fall of the House of Usher. But beware many Corman titles have ended up on public domain labels and these are best avoided.

superb.. well, in parts.
The glory of sets like this is that you buy them for 1 or two you really want to see, after working out that to buy those '1 or 2' will cost you almost as much as the collection.. and then find gold hidden amoungst the dust.I wanted 'Man with X ray eyes'.. and that is good. I also wanted Wild Angels. But, so far (I've not seen them all), the unexpected treat was 'Bucket of Blood'Now, I like atmospheric horror, but strongly dislike gore fest horror films, so to be honest, I did this one early on to 'get it out of the way'..expecting to dislike it..But, boy, was I wrong. Be aware - and use this as a recomendation or a downer.. there is next to no blood, or buckets, in this one. If you wanted to be critical, then it is a derivitive rip-off of 'House of Wax'..but it is great fun.Not so much as a horror film.. but as a clever and witty spoof of the Beat movement.
