I love these books Dover puts together, as I own the Real and Fanciful Animals collection one, as well as Women Illustrators of the Golden Age. My only complaint about this book, however, and the animal one would be that I wish the artist's names were included in small captions near each of these illustrations. Or at least included on an index page on the back. I understand this is copyright free and archival works, but it would still be nice to see the artist behind each or all. Other than that, I highly, highly recommend this book, along with most other books in this series by Dover, as they are fantastic reference guides for current artists now. :) Review: Great for Collage - It has a nice variety of subject matter. It will work great for collage. The quality of some of the images is not 100%. However, if you are doing it for collage, it will still be great even if you are using the images as your central figure. I do alot of cut and paste collage using just magazine images and a glue stick. This book is perfect for that. There is a very good variety of large and small images. Lots of in between to. The only only down side is that there are images on both sides of the page, so you must choose. Other than that, I am excited to get in it. I bought mine used and it was a great bargain. I do not think it would be a disappointing purchase for anyone using it for collage.
