A Captain Carmine Delmonico mystery from the bestselling author of The Thorn Birds August 1969. Two anonymous male corpses are discovered in the sleepy college town of Holloman, Connecticut. After connecting the emaciated bodies to four other victims, the police realise that Holloman has a psychopathic killer on the loose. Captain Carmine Delmonicoโs team begins to circle a trio of eccentrics who share family ties, painful memories, and a dark past. Things become even murkier when one of them turns out to be a friend of Sergeant Delia Carstairs. Delia has also recently befriended the head of the local mental hospital, who has been trying to rehabilitate a very difficult patient. When another vicious murder rocks Holloman, Carmine realises that two killers are at large with completely different modus operandi. Suddenly the summer isnโt so sleepy anymore. .. Sins of the Flesh
I am a delighted fan of Colleen McCullough's detective series. I am always impressed with her command of the English language and the creepy surprises she weaves into her plots. I'm in love with Carmine Delmonico and his wife Desdemona. As was true in the first three books, the characters in this book are well developed and interesting and extremely diverse.. Delia was a featured detective in this book. She's smart, funny, and very much an individual. The crimes are pretty awful, but McCullough doesn't dwell on them so much as to make them repellent to read about. If there is anything to complain about it is that Desdemona was not in this book. I was sorry to see that she had been shuffled off to California. Still, as always, when I reach the end of a McCullough book, I find myself wanting to turn the page and read more. So, I say, please, another book in this series, please!

It was good to read another story featuring Carmine and his team. They are always well written, well researched and interesting, with a twist to surprise the reader.
