Henckels Modernist 7-pc Self-Sharpening Knife Block Set

The knife set arrived today and after unboxing, it looks really nice. I love the sound of when the knife is being sharpened as you put the knife back into it’s slot. I’m impressed with the quality and from the looks of it, I think I’m going to love chopping ingredients!

I think this will serve our kitchen very well. As we are all cooks in the family, it remains to be seen how long they will last without rusting or spotting!

I gave this as a gift, so I'm merely reporting what the recipient said. She said that the knives were attrative and easy to use, but that she was taken aback when she found a leaflet enclosed with the package that said that they were not self-sharpening - the slots were merely specially designed to ensure that the blades did not suffer any damage when the knives were put back in. So they help maintain a sharp edge, but do not create one. I can't vouch for this, but I suggest that anyone buying these knives check that they really are getting what they expected.

I purchased the Modernist 7-piece set because I don’t often find need for other, more specialized knives, and because I know this brand is associated with chef Gordon Ramsay—so I figure it must be a quality product I can get without spending a small fortune.When it arrived, the finish between the front and back sections of the block was cracked, revealing a gap between the two, and the lettering on the face was smeared. I also noted it was made in China. I returned the set in exchange for a replacement. When it arrived, it appeared to be in acceptable condition except for a bit of rust on the blade of the serrated knife. I am about to either make a warranty claim or return the product again.Otherwise, these knives are very sharp and handle well.

Just received my Henckels 7 piece Modernist knives set. I've read a lot of the reviews here with the blocks or the knives being broken or rusty and I was a little worried abut it but my set came in pristine condition. It was packed well and looks great on the counter top.I love the self sharpening block. Even though it's not a solution for dull blades it is good for casual maintenance. I'm a amateur cook and wanted a nice knife set and these are the sharpest knives I've ever owned. I'm very happy with the set so far.

Love, love these knives and the self-sharpening block for storage! Never again will I have to worry about pulling out a full knife! Slices tomatoes like a hot knife going through butter. Just the perfect set for this home chef!

This is a stylish knife set, and the handles are heftier than most other knives which allows better control, I think.The self-sharpening feature is convenient too. I still expect to have to sharpen them, but probably less often which is nice :)

I like everything about this set. Knives are well-balanced, comfortable to hold, and the self-sharpening block really helps keep the blades sharp. Excellent value for the price!
