Why does it say to only allow this timothy grass to be 10% of pets diet? is is not the same as timothy hay? shouldn't it be unlimited?

You misread the statement. It says the timothy hay "can be fed at a MINIMUM rate equal to 10% of the total diet." So it means to feed it as AT LEAST 10% of the diet. However, all the other commenters are correct in saying the rabbit should have unlimited access to timothy hay!

What is the difference between timothy GRASS and timothy hay.  What is the best to feed to guinea pigs? Thanks! Bill

For a healthy Guinea pig, second cutting timothy grass hay is best. It is nutrionally balanced and should be available at all times. Your vegetable diet and hay supply should not be considered mutually exclusive. Both are important! Pellets are a treat type food and only fed consistantly by pet stores because of relative cost and convience.

Has anyone had problems with flies from this product?

I'm glad I'm not the only one complaining about the hay.  We had a box come with a large feather inside, then another box came with huge pieces of straw and nearly inedible pieces of hay, and this most recent box came with sticks, thorny stuff (got stuck about 5 times already), and who knows what else was in there.  I'm done with Standlee.  I've complained to them several times and I got no where.  Amazon has been great about refunding and exchanging, but now they are saying that there is definitely something wrong with the product.  But, they are still selling it in larger and smaller sizes!!!  Crazy! Very inconsistent.  We are going to have to go back to the expensive Oxbow because at least they stand behind their product and replace it if it is not up to standards.  Never had to worry about thorns in it!!

is this grass the same as oxbow timothy hay? trying to figure out if i could keep this for 2 months for my rabbits

Timothy hay is Timothy hay. The cuts can be waaay different and there are huge variances among the major brands. This is second-cut hay like the most popular oxbow hay, but this is cross-cut as well, so each strand is shorter than Oxbow and there is a wider variety of textures and far more fuzzy bits than oxbow. My 2 rabbits go through a 10 lb box of this in about a month. The oxbow 10 lb lasts longer for me because they don't eat as much of it - they like this hay better, though it might be a rabbit-specific preference for variety. The oxbow hay is softer, longer, and has a lot more brown. If your rabbits like soft hay, small pet select is great. Also of note: There are huge variances within each brand... every time you order, you are likely to get a different batch, cut from different areas of the fields... Judging by reviews, all brands seem to suffer from some pretty crappy cuts.
