Its big and bulky so its a no go for small closet or small spaces. You definitely would not use it for small patches. So what about the big jobs nope. it does not evenly dispense the mud which defeats the purpose. So you are better off applying a thin layer with a 4 inch puddy knife. You can also use a 6 inch puddy knife if you feel you won't coat the joint evenly. using a 4 inch gives you the exact amount you need to apply the tape. I'm not going to go into taping or what kind of tape to use because if you are even thinking about buying this you need to know how to tape all ready. Do not think this will save you time or money. It will do the opposite. It will WASTE YOUR TIME AND COST YOU MONEY. if you really want to know the best use for this cut off the part that is supposed to cut the tape or leave the cap on it and use use it to hold your tools or spare tape.
