Complete Rosicrucian Initiations of the Fellowship of the Rosy Cross by Arthur Edward Waite, Founder of the Holy Order of the Golden Dawn

I found some of these rituals online but not all. The ones I did find were hard to find and not always in the best shape, pages missing, etc.This book, while not perfect, is a must for serious students of Waite. It provides invaluable insight into his philosophy. It's not "complete" though. Ishtar Publishing has published another smaller volume of FRC rituals that fills some of the holes, but there are still at least two rituals that I know of that are missing.I'd definitely recommend it.

This book is what one should expect from the hand of Brother Waite. It seems ponderous on occasion, sometimes preachy, and often long-winded in the extreme. But it has some good content--it is interesting to see how Waite pulled many different traditions under his very Christian umbrella. If you are into this stuff, you will like the book. if you aren't, you will ask, "so what is the big deal?"

Really great stuff!I do wish that they did have some of the reading assignments that helped lead to the awakening that came,but all in all it is a great work.

This publication of A.E. Waite's "Inner and Outer Order Initiations of the Holy Order of the Golden Dawn" sets into print a significant shift in the Golden Dawn teachings from a blend of Eastern and Western Hermeneutics to one of strictly Western and deeply Christianized. Though others have made attempts to create a mystical mythology and order using more Western and Celtic paradigms (ie- Gray and The Sangreal Society), no other mystic has attained such a significant transformation of the Golden Dawn order material as Waite has done through his prodigious scholarship. Though this text is lacking the temple diagrams which would help further illuminate the ritual texts, they remain a wealth of insight into Waite's inner spiritual world. Of note is the lack of a seasonal Equinox ritual that he surely would have been familiar with as a member of the Golden Dawn, and with which he would have pressumabley reworked for his own order. One would wonder, and hope, that there also would exist a graded curriculum, from the distilation of which, would generate more ritual material for a thriving and practicing order of High Magick, as the Golden Dawn Z documents have done. This volume clearly stands amoung the few modern works which adds to the body of scholarly knowledge regarding transformational magic.

This is the complete and foremost only set of Official Rosy Cross Initiations of the Golden Dawn as written by A.E. Waite.Unknown to most, and assumed, Waite only authored 0=0 to 8=3 for his Order / Temple. He never wrote a 9=2 or an 10=1 Initiation, as they are areas unattainable by Man. No Golden Dawn Order or Temple has ever used an Initiation higher than 8=3, as it is not needed. Should the Adept attain such a grade, he or she, would be able to transcribe their own Initiation.Officially, there were no diagrams included in the Initiations. I plan to release a set of Initiation diagrams from 0=0 to 7=4, abstracted from Waite's private journal, to be provided to the Publisher. Everyone should have access to these soon, via the Publishers Website.This is a great text for those whom already have foundational knowledge of the Hermetic Golden Dawn and its History. This text only contains the Initiations themselves. Waite did not write knowledge lectures as one may presume. The knowledge of each grade was provided "Word to Mouth" to prevent materials from being taken from his new order. While it may be useful for some scholars to have access to these particular rituals the major flaw of "Holy Rituals of the Golden Dawn" is that they are not the rituals of this Order at all. They are actually one of the several versions Waite produced for the Fellowship of the Rosy Cross (FRC) (The rituals for the Holy Order are very different and bear a much closer relationship to the original Golden Dawn rituals). I rather doubt that "Nicholas Moricke" is unaware of this fact as a set of these very same rituals has been floating around the internet for some time and clearly bear the name on their frontispiece of "Fellowship of the Rosy Cross". As the FRC is, I understand, still functional their members may be less than impressed with this exposure. It should be added, however, that Waite continually tinkered with his rituals and these are not the final FRC version. Moreover, this volume does not contain the higher "inner" initiations as Waite also completed the rituals from "Da'ath" to "Kether" which would a constitute a volume at least as long as this.In general this is a somewhat lazy volume, capitalising on the name of the Golden Dawn. Apart from the minor errors in the text I have noticed ,one might have expected a deeper historical commentary in an introduction or even some kind of scholarly analysis of the rituals themselves.

The publication of these rituals in one volume provides a wonderful opportunity to read and work with something so different from and yet so similar to the SM rituals published by Regardie. I found the insights learned about Waite's take on HOGD ritual to be well worth the relatively modest price for this book and look forward to more from Mr. Morike.

An excellent book for study and reflection. Waite was one of the great teachers in the esoteric field.
