Silent Hill 2 - Heaven's Night - Original Soundtrack

This soundtrack may be the single greatest collection of music ever devised by humans. Your life without having listened to this CD is meaningless. Each song is expertly and finely crafted art transcending any sort of specific genre style; songs so amazing you will eargasm in public creating an awkward situation between you and the bag lady at Walmart. He creates these songs out of happy thoughts, magic, and the souls of a thousand bigfoots. Don't try to understand how this level of amazingness is possible, but I assure you sir or ma'am, it is possible. If this CD was somehow personified it would be a creature worth its weight in metric, nuclear powered, Chuck Norris beards. The soundtracks Akira writes are somehow better than the bestselling games. Without his music, the games would lose all integrity and sense of depth. Also, if this music hadn't been written, there would be nothing keeping the ghosts of a thousand crickets trying to enter your mind at bay. Buy this CD right now. Stop living a life of unworthiness. Make the voices stop for good.

This second score is probably the best of all Silent Hill series. A good balance between industrial sound, electronic and rock. When you earing this record you can remind all the best of the movie: spectral darkness, death around you, evanescent delirious and...the end of Laura. For me this record it's probably the best in Silent Hill. If you only can get one, this is yours ¡¡¡

Original Review ( May 26, 2007, 14 years old): The amazing thing about Akira Yamaoka's music is that it actually has the ability to take you to Silent Hill. Anyone that has ever listened to this music seperate from the games knows that. Turn off your lights and let this beautiful CD bring you back to "That special place"; Silent Hill. Moving on to actual content. The music on this CD ranges from dark piano ballads to ambiance that sounds like rumbling machinery and metal pangs and creaks. Every once in a while you even get a bouncy rock/pop song but even those are very "Silent Hill". I don't think this is for the casual fan but I suppose even they could find at least something enjoyable here. For you die-hard fans, though, I strongly recommend this CD. UPDATE (October 4, 2014, 21 years old): From gorgeous ballads (Promise Reprise) to somber, down tempo trip hop (True), to upbeat yet desperate sounding rock (Theme of Laura), this is musical perfection. I have had this CD since 2007, and I still listen to it nearly every single day. I have heard each of these songs thousands of times, and never tire of them. Every single track takes me to a different mental place, a different state of being, a different kind of chill down my spine, but every place I wind up, I see that town. Silent hill. This music has shaped me as a person, inspired me as a writer, provided the soundtrack for many foggy walks, and has, along with the game, allowed me to better understand myself. 7 years later, this is still undoubtedly my favorite piece of music I have ever heard. Absolutely, 100% recommended.

Has all the music from the game. It's probably my favorite out of the Silent Hill soundtracks I own(2, 3, and 5).

You're walking alone at night in a dark city. It's been so long since you saw a person you're starting to get the feeling you're the last one left. You take a turn, but the light in the alley flickers. The others are out, they're all out. You step in something grimy but don't look to see what it was. That would take too much time. You're not running from anything, but you know if you dawdle, something will find you. It's a presence more than a being, a static-like, other-worldy existence that lingers just behind every few shadows you pass. You take a turn into a bar and finally, noise. There's people there, they're a little on edge but generally friendly, and the presence is stuck at the door. Here you can think, here you can be. There's still a grainy feeling outside, but for now you're okay, until you have to leave. This feeling right here: cram it into a CD and strike it with lightning, you get the Silent Hill 2 sountrack. Crafted by Akira Yamaoka along with several other similarly great (but still just not quite AS great) musical scores made of moody, powerful ambient dark clouds. Clouds? I don't know, it's hard to describe it in a conventional way and still get the feel. For comparison, I'd describe Beatles music as dew on grass. In any case, each track here is high-quality. There are no skippable ones, though they might not fit the mood for an early-morning workout. I've owned this CD for years and it holds up like a well-built house. The longer you stick around, the more it feels like home. I didn't glance at the price when starting this review, but I honestly think whatever it's selling at is probably worth it.

I took this out after quite a few years and, to my surprise, this CD still made my mind movie. From Laura's theme and Laura playing the piano to the primse track and the endings (depending on the cd, you get different endings. I advise looking over what your CD includes because a few of the companies that own rights put all the ending tracks on the disc and not just the most likely), you find yourself recalling the quest you undertook and the epic way that 2 played out when you went through it. Personally, I rate SH2 as one of the creepiest games i have ever played in my life. The soundtrack is one of the things that build that puzzle, and I have to say that it makes me cringe in some of the audio/haunted areas. In other areas there are some quite beautiful things, however, and these things also stick with me. When i mentioned the piano, for example, i was throwing out something filled with beauty. I also consider promise(repsie) to be one of the most beautiful pieces of sound I have ever heard and this dual working of good and ill really make one feel what is going on. Truly, I have to say I love this album. If you are a fan of the series, you should buy this because you will love it. If you ar enot a fan, youmight love it anyhow because it goes through and tells a story and makes the mind follow. I personally love that feeling, that haunted thing, leading me back to Silent Hill. Its like i never left at all.

Silent hill 2 heavens night is a soundtrack to which every silent hill fan should have. Now i found this cd in a game store that sells old games. And believe me this music right here puts you right back in silent hill. Now thats how good Akria did of the creepy music that's in the games.
