Will this scare away hummingbirds? I’m trying to protect their nests from crows.

Doesn't scare hummingbirds, but we don't know where their nests are, so I don't know if they don't care about the dead crows or if they're just placed far enough away from the hummer nests. We have two dead crows out in our yard that we move around, but the other birds don't really care about them at all. Doves, sparrows, house finches, gold finches, blue birds, towees and rufus-sided towees all over the yard and at the feeder. Lots of hummingbirds zipping around. We don't feed them at a feeder, but we have lots of hummingbird-loved plants in the yard, so they're very active here. The dead crows don't appear to have scared the hummers at all.

Can I just hang this and leave it in one spot for the crows to go away?

HI, yes you can leave it in one spot, but Ideally you should hang more then one dead crow bird deterrent. The idea is to overwhelm them and therefore frighten them away from the area. We recommend also hanging other visual crow bird deterrents and if possible audio bird deterrents to scare away the problem crows.

Does it only work on crows. Or will it work for pigeons?

If pigeons are anything like doves, the dead crows won't scare them -- at all. Each evening we have 10-16 turtle and mourning doves browsing around under the birdfeeder, and the placement of the crows doesn't change or discourage them.

If I don’t nail it down will it fly away?

It has a rope attached so it can be tied down.
