If you didn't read the Lazarus Contract but you have been following this series then some major revelations will have been missed; foremost is that Nightwing had a secret pact with Deathstroke to leave one another alone and also that Wally West (after suffering an injury in the past at the hands of Damien Wayne) now has a pacemaker and a weak heart. Add to that the major reveals from the previous volume of Titans (Donna Troy was created as a weapon to be used against Wonder Woman and Bumblebee's memories have been stolen by HIVE) and the team isn't in a good place. When Omen receives a dark prediction about the team's future the search is on for a mole amidst the group of friends. While the final reveal of the traitor is interesting enough and makes good use of the characters' varied origins and backstories, the overall tone of the book is just too melodramatic. Things are often too rushed as well: Donna and Wally (seeking to overcome their collective grief over their recent set backs) spark up a brief romance that upsets Roy, Garth and Omen apparently have already started a relationship, and everyone is still mad at Nightwing. Too many big changes have occurred in too short a space; it is hard to care about these new relationships when they feel thrown in at the last second to add more drama. Also, without spoiling things there is a major fake out death in the second half of the book that is so patently disingenuous it made me laugh. While all the characters loudly lament the loss it remains crystal clear to the audience that Abnett is playing with the reader. When the character is saved it feels like such a weak "reveal" and the rest of the cast immediately gets on with the next step of the fight. That all said the book isn't terrible. The artwork remains fantastic (I love Rockafort's recent work) and some of the character interactions remain fun even despite all the relationship drama. All in all going forward I hope Abnett slows the pace and lets the character interactions breathe more while cutting back on this CW-style "drama." That type of non stop soap opera style writing made me give up on the Arrowverse shows; I hope it doesn't kill this series for me as well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great story *by H***S on Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2018* Good read. I really enjoy seeing the old team back in action. The storyline in this one is very good. I’ll admit the title had me wondering who the betrayer was and then once revealed what it meant I was somewhat less impressed.
