The unit switches between the two automatically, to pick up the optiocal input you drop your bluetooth pairing. Bass output is a bit less than another older bluetooth adapter I have but is very negatable. You get a usb power cord but no power supply. Good value and good quality for the price. Sound quality is good, channel separation is perfect. Update - still working great but I noticed it says "bluetooth connecting" (or connected or something like that) when connecting to the optical input also. Update to update - over a month later, still working fine. Bluetooth range is good.
