This is not easy. For the base of the Wreaths, you have to fringe 18-20 small flowers and the same amount for the large ones. That’s just for one wreath. The Wreaths are small so so are the critters that go on them. I don’t have a fringer and it took me forever to do it by hand and boy is it tough when you are fringing a 24” strip and you cut it too far. Glue sometimes helps getting it back together. ( sigh) These small critters are not easy either. And they use the term “ semi loose” to describe how to form the circles ? There are instructions on the basic shapes, but do not explain what they mean by “ semi-loose” or even have instructions on how to do some of the shapes they ask for. Thank goodness I have plenty of quilling books! So you have a hand drawn pictures to go off of ( all the characters are handrawn on the black and white instructions ) The only size they tell you is how long the strip will be. You also have to have very nimble fingers to try and put almost minuscule ribbons on the presents and such. Even with tweezers I’m looking at the other critters with dread. Don’t get me wrong, this is super cute, but is definitely not for beginners. It’s also hard to, and I’m using the presnts as examples here, Roll it to the correct size then slightly grape roll it? It has to be loose to shape it into the square it’s supposed to be. The paper has a super strong smell to it that hasn’t faded at all. I have the kit in a big ziploc bag and can still smell it. Also, the colors ( strips) are lighter then what’s shown in the picture. I suppose one could use different colored strips but I dumbly did not think of that. Also included in this are what are called “ narrow strips”. These are smaller then the 3 mm strips. I shudder to use these as well. I’ve never used them. I’m hoping to get one of the Wreaths done by Christmas but I’m starting to think that won’t happen. If you are a beginner , this is a great way to practice your fringing ( I should’ve invested in a fringer, still might ) and how to make small objects.
